tired of allegations that we favor U.S. writers. we care about all writers everywhere. and that’s why we’ve put this one together for you, writers from Albania, Angola, Argentina, Armenia, Austria, Azerbaijan… and literally anywhere else in the world.
As perfect a poem of its sort (plain statement, minimal metaphor) as you will ever read. The key devices are syntax (the final fragment) and enjambment (“shot/long”). The rhymes are insubstantial until they deliver the specific images at the end: cutlery, vase. Suddenly we see.
