The way 🇪🇺 EU made your lives better:
1. Free movement, no border stops (remember lines on the border?)
2. No customs in EU (got a package from the UK recently? horrible...)
3. Worlds strictest food safety - American toast bread can't even legally be called food in Europe - thank god!!!
4. Free roaming in EU, incl. data (remember those fees?)
5. Insurance everywhere in EU when traveling
6. Joint currency EUR in 19 countries (remember changing to so many currencies when traveling)
7. Tech standards enforced - EU forced Apple to move to USB-C
8. Strong data privacy protection - GDPR
9. Strong consumer protection
10. Strong transparency forced on large online platforms
11. Abuse of dominance protection - yes, Apple must allow 3rd party stores in EU
And people complain about bottle-caps (you get used to it...) and cookie policies (yes, lets revise)...
Especially the food, freedom, and technology rules.
Many of these rules and laws forced US to enact their own (e.g. data protection, abuse of dominance laws). We inspired others to follow - because it makes sense.
Especially tech. companies are increasingly monopolizing - makes perfect sense to regulate them.
every now and then a #eurovision song comes along that feels timeless. like it’ll still mean something in 10 years. austria’s entry is that one for me #eurovision2025
eurovision: the only place you can go from a man singing about his dying wife to a man singing about espresso macchiato while doing a charleston #Eurovision2025
