no user rozyilya saying a gay man and a mixed-Asian man are better equipped to understand a gay mixed-Asian MMC than a white woman isn't misogyny. Their identities intersect with Shane's helping them contextualize what Rachel simply doesn't (and doesn't try to) understand.
can we finally dead the whole “they’re BOTH terrible communicators” narrative because that’s really never been true. shane struggles with understanding and naming what he wants but once he knows, he goes for it almost immediately. ilya is the one who is avoidant and dishonest
@thecatboyzoro@that1983vibe i mean you kinda disproved your own point here. shane’s struggle with communication stems from his autism, something he literally cannot control. ilya CHOOSES to be evasive and purposely vague with shane.
shane is the one to make the first reach for more intimacy/connection. he’s the one to confess his feelings first. he’s the one to invite ilya to the cottage. he’s the one who pushes for the honesty rule while at the cottage.
anyway i will forever be grateful that the show is the actual global phenomenon and the general audience pulls their understanding of hollanov from there and not #other sources
rr saying her favorite thing about shane is how much he thinks about ilya vs jt saying he specifically took the time to speak with hudson to flesh out shane’s personality and understand him as an individual
