The US is no longer a nation of small business.
53% of Americans work for big businesses now (with 500+ workers). That's a big shift from the 1980s/90s/early 2000s.
The biggest change of all has been more people working for companies with 10,000+ workers and fewer people working at firms with under 100 workers.

🇨🇴 The U.S. is Colombia’s largest humanitarian donor and a key backer of the 2016 peace accord, contributing $1.5 billion to its implementation and security. The U.S. freeze of foreign aid hits Colombia just as it faces one of its worst security crises in years. Elizabeth Dickinson, senior analyst at Crisis Group, says the impact of the freeze “cannot be overstated”:
➤ The freeze disrupts vital anti-drug operations, grounding helicopters, halting intelligence support, and leaving security forces scrambling to reallocate funds.
➤ With these key resources cut off, Colombia’s security efforts—especially in remote areas—are severely hampered, (e.g. forcing the government to borrow aircraft from the oil sector to fill the gap.)
➤ The freeze strengthens criminal groups and weakens U.S. efforts against drug trafficking, giving armed organizations more room to operate.
Her thread below delves into the broader impacts, especially on communities reliant on USAID programs and the looming security challenges from the funding freeze. 👇
