@instagram There's a pretty serious bug on your website right now that prevents people from using DMs.
I fixed it for you, though :)

@adapis_@Kephrii@neosar@PlayOverwatch It definitely does hurt the community.
Valorant's anticheat is so aggressive that it won't run on anything but a bare metal Windows install.
It prevents entire demographics from playing:
1. Linux users
2. Macs
3. Shadow PC and streaming Windows-as-a-service.
4. Windows in VMs.
@bojamhorsejack@theMoneyFolder@Kephrii@PlayOverwatch In all honesty, they're probably not going to care.
Windows VM/Linux/Mac players aren't a significant source of profit compared to the typical consumer running Windows on bare metal.
@BenKato_@Kephrii@PlayOverwatch Even people who are using Windows would still be screwed over by a ring 0 anticheat.
Examples:
- Any PC with a hypervisor.
- Any PC-as-a-service like Shadow PCs.
- Windows VMs with GPU passthrough.
@NoMindToThink@Marexn@1RV34 @Itz_Draxy @fu5ha@Kephrii@PlayOverwatch I would rather see the player base divided into high-level competitive with strict anticheat and low-level with basic anticheat.
Forcing kernel anticheat on everybody is going to kill compatibility:
No Linux.
No MacOS.
No Shadow PC.
No Windows VMs.
@CantUseYellow@Kephrii@PlayOverwatch It would definitely make me never return. There's a reason I still refuse to play Valorant even though I now have a PC their anticheat doesn't hate.
@Level2H2H@Kephrii@PlayOverwatch Not a cheater, and I still think ring 0 is by far the wrong approach.
If Valorant's anticheat is any indication, it will kill compatibility with any PC that isn't running under the environment they demand.
No Mac.
No Linux.
No Hypervisors.
No streaming PC as a service.
@Kephrii@neosar@PlayOverwatch If you're happy being locked down into not being able to play on Mac, Linux, or a VM, that's fine.
Please keep in mind that as a professional competitive gamer, you are an extreme minority. Ring 0 anticheat will make OW unplayable for way more people than it'll actually help.
@bojamhorsejack@theMoneyFolder@Kephrii@PlayOverwatch While I agree that kernal-level anticheat is marginally more effective, it has some major drawbacks.
- Kills compatibility for VMs.
- Kills compatibility for Linux and Proton.
- Consumes background resources.
- It's another closed-source driver that could have security holes.
