I'm 42. I was gang-raped at 19. Which means I've lived 23 years on this planet with an experience few people understand.
Then, when I thought I was truly done with reliving *that* shit, at 38, I started experiencing domestic violence. An experience that, as a stranger-rape victim, I never would have really understood. No matter how much I put myself in those shoes. I knew a lot. I knew more than most. But I still didn't know it all.
Rape opened up a whole world of understanding for me that few others share; then domestic violence: here's a whole other world I had no idea existed.
You don't know what it is to experience any of these things until you really fucking know. That's what we survivors go through every day of our god damned lives. Not just the pain of violence. But the pain of you not knowing while you pretend to know so fucking much.
It's irritating, to say the least.
My wife canceled Thanksgiving dinner for fourteen people because she’s going through chemotherapy. I told her nobody was asking her to cook, clean, or even stay downstairs the whole time. Apparently, expecting her to spend a couple of hours with my family while they visit our children makes me an insensitive husband.
The current administration is kidnapping children and locking them in cages and deporting them
Over 4000 children die every year through gun violence.
Children are currently dying because of this administration and it’s anti-VAX bullshit diseases that stopped being like threatening because of vaccines.
Approximately 9.7 million children in the United States are in poverty.
Children are currently being sexually and physically abused by their parents teachers the most trusted adults around them.
Approximately 4000 to 5000 children kill themselves because of bullying
But no, a buy wearing a dress is something you need to use your public platform to talk about
You have a following of over 9000 concentrate on those issues do better
I saw a BOY, maybe 4 years old, wearing a PRINCESS DRESS at a coffee shop today.
His parents were proudly talking about how they let him wear whatever he wants, how progressive they are, and how society needs to evolve.
So here’s the question nobody will agree on:
Is this GOOD parenting—letting kids be kids and ignoring gender norms?
Or have we gone too far, and part of parenting is teaching children that societal norms actually exist?
What’s wrong with a 4-year-old boy wearing a princess dress to coffee?
Or would you tell your son, “Dresses are for girls”?
The DSA has admitted time and time again that their goal is a full hostile takeover of the Democratic Party with the intent to destroy it from within… and yet I still see far too many Democrats defending DSA candidates. You’re aiding fascists. They are the enemy, not allies.
@myself4_a Like the pro Palestine people who didn’t vote for Kamala Harris and allowing Trump to get re-elected as hurt the Palestinian people so much more
@tatertotsconor I’ve been radicalised online in like the complete opposite way could be because I really fucking hate men now.
Something the Internet has made me a better person when it comes to calling out sexism and racism
Actor Sacha Baron Cohen plays Borat, a Kazakh reporter in the 2006 smash hit film “Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan.”
“[He’s] a funny character,” says Baron Cohen. “He also shows the kindness of people as well, who are so nice to him, but also can expose, you know, the layer of hate and bigotry below the surface that people normally wouldn't go on air and show.” https://t.co/4dI8S76g3w
