In my youth, I was extremely competitive with ice hockey and video games
but even though I got better at both, the cost was my friendships
I'd often mindlessly buy into many zero sum games until all I was left with was nothing
My competitive youth taught me a great lesson through loneliness, and it is why I will always think twice about participating in zero sum games
Zero To One is a great book on this concept, perfect competition on the wrong things
Sometimes I think about how lonely I am on this path towards success
But then I must remember, this loneliness isn't exclusive to me
My parents, who I've mostly ignored in this journey, want to speak to their son
And when I remember I need to call them, I remember, this life is not about you, it's about them
"Give, give, give"

Part of why I dislike being a content creator is feeling the need to bull shit and hook my viewers into staying for longer
I think the viewers are smarter than we creators think them to be
Everything is a science
advertising - Scientific Advertising by Claude Hopkins
f1 racing - The Formula by Jonathan Clegg + Joshua Robinson
startups - Zero To One by Peter Thiel
storytelling - On writing by Stephen King
conflict - Creativity Inc. by Ed Catmul
engineering - obviously lol
ideas - Poor Charlie's Almanack by Charlie Munger
Study the greats, follow the guidelines of success
I think I’m regretting cutting off some of my friends
Because on one hand, the nights are very lonely
But on the other hand, I never would’ve gotten this far if I weren’t so alone
startups are like any other science
it's just their textbooks are biographies and books
but just like science, nothing happens unless you apply the science
So read books to understand startups
Then take action to apply the science of startups
