Ospreys Rugby met with Malcolm Wall and Dave Reddin from the WRU this morning, where they laid out their plans for Welsh rugby.

Ospreys are Wales’ most successful region, having won more league titles, produced players who’ve won more Welsh caps and been selected for more British and Irish Lions tours than any other region.

We will continue to engage with the WRU with the intention of reaching an agreement which continues that proud tradition. Our intention is and always has been to find a solution which works in the best interests of Welsh rugby and Ospreys Rugby, not only at an elite level but across the entirety of the game and the communities involved in it.

Like many other supporters, we were incredibly disappointed to see the new pricing announced for Coach travel to away fixtures revealed by the club this morning.

While we acknowledge the need for increased security on coaches due to unacceptable behaviour from a minority; we have witnessed it first hand, the cost should not be footed by the many supporters who just want to go and watch their team in peace.

Making the bus more expensive for the New Year’s Day fixture against Portsmouth than the Hull fixture that takes place 10 days before, also feels like a deeply cynical ploy to exploit supporters on a day when train travel is not an option. What should have been one of our best attended games of the season will now possibly not be so because of this decision to price supporters out.

The same service to Middlesbrough in December 2021 cost £39. While we acknowledge higher running costs in the current climate, this pricing is not reflective of that.

While another club in the division; Stoke City, offers free coach travel to their supporters it is disappointing to see this decision made at a time of year which is particularly difficult financially for so many.

As regular users of this service, we would welcome a reply from either Swansea City or Turners Coachways and the opportunity to discuss this further.
