Hardest word in today’s athletic mindset…sacrifice. Seniors Derek Clark and Ethan Zagore went from supplementary role players to 1st team all conference this year. Rarely missed a workout or open gym since June. often first to arrive and last to leave.
This coming Tuesday we will celebrate the time, energy, leadership and journey of these 5 seniors. Come out as the Storm host @ElginHoops in their last home game of the season.
If teams haven’t figured it out yet, Storm got a couple dudes who are locked in when in and on the ball defense. @ethanzagore and @_KJBrooks bring another level of intensity.
Senior spotlight #2
@ethanzagore is a 6’1 guard with length and a 40” vertical. His defensive persistence, ability to catch and shoot and finish at the rim have helped him adjust into a feature role after a reserve role last year.
Ugly win against a quickly improving Larkin team.
Luis Vergara led the Storm with 18, Zagore with 16, Clark 13, Hodges 7.
Brooks with 5 steals
George with 11 rebounds and 4 assists.
Scholl and Clemente both returned after extended absences.
Solid tournament showing for @ethanzagore (12ppg, 4rpg) @IshmaelGeorge35 (7pg, 9rpg) @Derek_clark20 (14ppg, 3 rpg). Storm shot the 3 ball well as a team (43%). Turnovers were difference in a 1-3 and a 3-1 record.
Senior Storm:
@connorhodges_21 6’3 wing who has worked hard to improve his all around game.
@Derek_clark20 6’2 wing who has long range
@ethanzagore sneaky fast and quick guard
@luissvergara22 intelligent leader and PG
Miller Meincke: Hard nosed forward not afraid to mix it up
South Elgin: Graduated a lot from first conference winner. Juniors Shailen Shukti and Caden School will make immediate contributions. Seniors Derek Clark, Luis Vergara and Ethan Zagore are poised to take big steps. Soph transfer Ryan Brown should earn minutes.
@ethanzagore with the highest total one step touch at 11’2”Long armed and with a quick first step this 6’1” guard will attract some attention as he steps into a leading role this season.
Boasts a 3.7 GPA that will help him on his next journey! @HowardBisonBall#basketball#ncaa
