@etherbridge fund's view on positioning for #Bitcoin market cycle. June 2023 we argued we were in an allocation window ahead of market gains. Herein we outline what we see ahead. Authored by @Carps_Crumbs, fund CIO. Insights reposted below (not advice). https://t.co/fzXDdJ52el
And a shout out also to my colleagues at @etherbridge, who founded the fund in 2019 and rode a tough up and down cycle, dealing with the tradfi stigma of being 'unregulated'. Yet they stuck with it to build Aum and implement excellent process and outperform Bitcoin. While the other funds chased scammy credit and ponzi rainbows and crumbled, Etherbridge showed serious resilience and determination to build a world class crypto investment fund that does the basics well and staying away from train wrecks. From here to the moon boys @Carps_Crumbs@mikesrhaynes 🌕🚀 📈
Well done to everyone who have hung in there and still around to see the listing of the first #Bitcoin ETF in the USA. A particular well done to all the people who worked behind the scenes to bring this to fruition.
I can tell from experience doing similar things with BTC in SA, that this was a daunting task with many severe ups and downs. Emotionally tougher and more volatile than the Bitcoin price itself, carrying major career risk.
But it's now a done deal, and it's a big deal.
Major institutional apparatus and support will now kick into gear to distribute and market Bitcoin. Regulators in SA actively look directly to what the US and the UK are doing, and take guidance from there on best practices. It means we're going to see some real movement locally ito institutional adoption. And the oft-cited risk from naysayers that the US govt will "ban" Bitcoin has dropped below 0,5%.
Let's goooo 🚀
I’ve uploaded an old NFT as X profile pic for experimentation. X verified that I own it, requiring that I sign using private key of wallet that holds it.
The NFT displays differently to normal avatars—as a hexagon shaped avatar—signaling ownership. Copy and paste avatars display as rounded avatars. You can easily spot the difference between scarce property and replicable digital information.
You can copy and paste my 8-ball cryptog, but you won’t be verified as the owner. In a culture that values property rights, this is groundbreaking.
You might not value it, but there will be a generation that respects this property like you respect a title deed to real estate or a share certificate. We are still so early on this.
BTCUSD is up 120% Ytd, quietly continuing the next bull market. Looks like our thesis presented at the @etherbridge webinar in July is playing out. Who's keen for a Spaces update from me and @Carps_Crumbs? Or are we still too early for retail interest? 👀😉
Key dates in history of electronic payments in SA:
1st credit card a Visa-branded Barclay Card in 1968
1st ATM was installed in downtown Joburg in 1977
1st bank cards were debit cards and followed ATMs
1st EFT payments were processed in 1981 at Joburg hub of Automated Clearing Bureau (ACB)
1st RTC payments processed in 2006
1st RPP payments processed in 2023
These payment rails all basically follow the clearing and settlement patterns established pre-computers for paper-based payments (ie cheques, look at four-party model) and are not optimised for the internet era.
Mostly because the money is separate from the technologies that move the money.
Exciting changes ahead, and the innovation and change is unlikely to come from within the four-party model paradigm 🚀
34/ Prediction 6: Seamless interoperability between different Layer 2’s will be achieved, ensuring users enjoy an unhindered internet of value experience. Prepare for a smoother crypto journey ahead!🚀
Every crypto market cycle introduces a fresh wave of innovation. This cycle? Layer 2 solutions are at the forefront, addressing challenges from previous cycles.
29/Value Addition: Layer 2’s upgrade existing secure blockspace, making it more efficient. The core of value in crypto, in our opinion, revolves around optimizing this blockspace. This sentiment is echoed by both builders and users.
