@Omnipotene_TTV@ImperialHal Oh I just stopped playing completely. It's definitely a me problem, but I don't feel like I'm alone. It's such a struggle to play Apex when it doesn't reward you in any sort of way. I can hit Pred/Master easy but there just isn't a worthwhile reward for doing more or sweating.
@MonsoonGG@ImperialHal I mean, I agree. I think it's tough though. Apex really does a poor job at rewarding rank. There isn't really a motivation to keep high RR. You can only get so high into Pred before realizing it's time gated. I'd be happier seeing better rewards or even tournament integration.
@AlbralelieVT@ApexLiveComms I would assume it is both. "More players" and "more matches". So an increase to the number of accounts playing ranked and an increase of matches played on those accounts.
That's typically how that data would be drawn. But maybe it's PR fluff. That's the flags though.
@Laser_FPS I think that's just because the skillset for Rocket League is its own and not transferable. I don't think that would be considered "higher skill" though. Compare a new FPS player vs. a veteran and it is night and day. That's RL's case most of the time because it is so unique.
@18B_ACTUAL@summit1g@xQc@StumpyGoblin I'd agree with this if the conversation was just sheer aim, but the team dynamic and roles make OW a bit more difficult in my eyes. Kind of forces you to be able to IGL and swapping roles forces you to understand different play patterns. The different characters add depth too.
@Xanira2@Snip3down The honest opinion is that it is flashy, but the swings are wide and the TTK is average, that kind of stuff would be abused in the competitive scene. They could just be playing for the 'clip', but this style of play can pretty handily be shutdown. It's just stuff for the clip.
@PWN_HUB@Emaerya Well assuming thats true, though I would contest it, let's define budget build. Is that $1,000? $1,500? Both those numbers are expensive regardless. And casually insinuating $100 is cheap is WILD when you look at the numbers she's given. Esports is a luxury.
@Emaerya I just think it's hard to use the monetary privilege argument with worldwide medians when the entire competitive space has a PC that's worth more than the world's yearly take home. To everyone else this is rich people arguing with rich people. But ya, hope EA does more anyway.
@Emaerya It's pretty fair to assume that most of the people competing are of privilege too. Buying a PC and nice monitor is expensive. Personally I think it'd be nice for a billion dollar company to pay, but it does rub me a wrong to think it's some sort of crime if they don't. 2/?
@MonsoonGG While I think I agree with this take, I do have to acknowledge Apex is probably the most difficult FPS in terms of mechanics. When there's so much room to outplay, there's also a lot of room to get shit on = BIG barrier to entry. Game might need to be easier to thrive. Not sure.
@dumbasslaura I've used a variety of glass pads for a few months and always gone back to cloth. I logged hundreds of hours on AimLabs trying to transition to glass pads and while I did start getting similar scores the consistency was not there. Having to wear an arm sleeve is also a negative.
@hundredzgg A patch typically incurs a bunch of traffic both returning and new, but it does NOT mean the game is healthier. I'm not arguing one way or another on how to balance a game as I think there is a sweet spot, but the data we have available isn't sufficient.
@hundredzgg Well, have to mention this. Concurrent player stats are not actually a good way to measure longevity. The stat that is used but not shown is retention. You need to be able to keep more new players than players leaving. Palword is a good example of this. 1/2
@HilmMikeEdits TAAU is basically your native resolution scaling, no alterations. 1080p and 50% resolution scaling is kind of crazy though. Is the fidelity alright? You're essentially looking at ~720p models on a 1440p monitor at that point.
That is assuming 50% resolution is based off 1080p.
@_notrose If you can get the early game down, you'll have a lot easier time learning. Playing early strongest board will get you Top 4 more often than not and will allow you to hit later game comps.
