The PFP in the Middle Ages were paintings of the kings and not of animals

Why is it different today?

The kings in the Middle Ages already had PFP NFTs

They were just called differently: paintings

When they died, the successor got the painting and sometimes used it as his own PFP

But did kings have animal paintings made of them?
