~5 years ago, I went to lunch with a group of traders.

Everyone was glued to their phones, watching their positions. I was the odd one out, not staring at my screen.

They were probably thinking I wasn't a real trader, because if I was I would be watching my portfolio, right?

The truth was, I just had a different philosophy.

All I could think about was how stressful or exciting trading must be for them to not be able to look away.

For them, trading seemed like a high-stakes game that demanded constant attention.

Whatever the motivation - stressful or exciting trading is never a long-term approach.

In their mind I wasn’t a real trader, but from my perspective, their path was a fast track to burnout.

And that's exactly what happened - none of them are trading anymore.

This shapes my entire approach to the market. I want to make as few trades as I can with as little interaction in between as possible.

I believe more people would do way better if they did way less.
