With Fable 5 out and the way Anthropic will be structuring its use, I think the cloud model will go out the window.

What I mean is that most folks who dove into the AI coding wanted the latest and greatest and were willing to pay for it.

With Fable 5, people will NOT be getting it or paying for it (let's be realistic - will need like $3K a month) so the shift will be massively towards local LLMs.

That will be the future not just for individuals but for small to medium corps. Everyone wants to save money but people also want the best of the best.

AI is mostly experimenting right now. We try an idea, see if it works, tweak it, try again — hundreds, thousands of times over.

Python is great for that because you can quickly do the above. C++ is crazy powerful but super fussy and slow to write. Since each experiment's running time is done by the GPU anyway, you'd be silly not to pick the language that lets the Homo sapiens move fastest?
