Today #Africa lost an advocate!
Konjit Sinegiorgis one of the longest serving diplomats in the continent passed away at 86.
Born into a prominent #Ethiopian aristocratic family in 1940 Ambassador Konjit was one of extremely few black women to be educated in Colombia University, in New York in the 1950s.
Throughout her diplomatic career, she was in the front seat, when #Africa was decolonized and OAU was founded in 1962-63, as well as it was elevated to AU in 2002.
She served #Ethiopia as Ambassador in dozens of countries under governments starting from Emperor Haileselassie I, and subsequent governments, despite ideological differences between those states.
Though her privileged upbringing, immense experience and high quality education would have allowed her to work in any other international and academic institutions, she chose to serve her country and her continent tirelessly for over five consecutive decades uninterrupted.
Rest In Peace..
