@MFAEthiopia The Egyptian government should realize that Ethiopia is a sovereign country having its own development goals and legitimate regional interests.

Ethiopia is a land of many heroes who have strengthened the country through generational continuity. The Special Operations Command of the Defense Forces, over the past 65 years, has carried out outstanding missions that have made Ethiopia proud, demonstrating unbreakable resilience through numerous challenges. Currently, through defense reform efforts, the command has been reorganized in a modern manner in terms of structure, manpower, and equipment, incorporating airborne, commando, and special counter-terrorism forces. It stands in a reliable position to carry out its duties effectively at any time and under any conditions.
As the command celebrated its 65th anniversary, it publicly showcased the modern military capabilities it has built, the readiness of its personnel, and its tactical proficiency. In particular, the integrated water-borne exercise shown today, as well as the various military skills demonstrated in coordination by airborne and commando members, confirmed the high level of capability of the armed forces.
Among the efforts underway to bring change in the agricultural sector, the main focus is on utilizing available surface and groundwater resources for irrigation development. Many areas that previously provided no benefit are now being transformed into centers of agricultural development through irrigation. The area where the Bilate River is located is a notable example of this. In the area, extensive fruit development projects are being carried out with the participation of private investors. This will greatly support the efforts being made to ensure food sovereignty.

Africa has spoken with one voice at the 2025 UN Climate Change Conference (COP 30) in Belém, Brazil and the world has listened. Ethiopia extends its heartfelt gratitude to the African Group of Negotiators for their unanimous endorsement of Ethiopia’s bid to host COP 32 in Addis Ababa in 2027. We are grateful for the opportunity that the Conference of the Parties is giving us to spearhead the collective effort to tackle one of the most daunting challenges faced by humanity. We are honored to be entrusted by the global community with such an important responsibility. This recognition reflects confidence in Ethiopia’s leadership in climate action and its capacity to host major global events.
Ethiopia remains fully committed to delivering a robust and meaningful outcome and inclusive COP 32 that advances collective action against climate change. Building on the momentum of the Second Africa Climate Summit, Ethiopia will continue to champion Africa as a continent of solutions and a committed partner in the global effort for a sustainable future.
This morning, I addressed the people of Kemise Town, the administrative center of the Oromia Zone in the Amhara Regional State. This visit holds special significance, as it marks a zone I had yet to visit within the Amhara Region. Kemise’s early-stage corridor development efforts, featuring a modest 1.3 km bicycle lane and pedestrian walkway, are commendable. They demonstrate that corridor development initiatives are being embraced at all levels, with a shared vision of elevating public space standards across the country.
We also reviewed the Elfora Agro-Industries integrated agricultural development plant in the town, which is contributing meaningfully to our national “Bounty of the Basket” (Ye Lemat Tirufat) initiative.
The Artificial Intelligence Institute, having relocated from its former site, is now housed in the former Ethiopian Broadcasting Corporation premises in the heart of the city. The complex AII moved into has undergone an extraordinary infrastructural transformation in less than a year, resulting in an ergonomically advanced and highly conducive work environment for its employees. In just five years, the Institute has reached remarkable heights, reflecting the rapid pace at which AI is shaping every aspect of our lives, and underscoring the importance of ensuring that our nation actively participates in this global technological race. The Institute is driving AI interventions across health, agriculture, and the service sector, while also developing capabilities in cloud computing, large-scale data centers, data mining, robotics, and immersive technologies.
A newly launched AI startup center further strengthens this ecosystem, enabling individuals to enter with only an idea and receive support to prototype, incubate, and connect with private-sector investors; already, 200 innovators have benefited from this opportunity.
I warmly welcome Honorable @anwaribrahim to Ethiopia—the Land of Origins, on his three-day official visit. Your presence is a true testament to the growing friendship and solidarity between Ethiopia and Malaysia, and it comes at a pivotal moment for our nation.
Last year, I made an official visit to Malaysia, and one year later, I have the honor of welcoming Honorable Dato’ Seri @anwaribrahim, Prime Minister of the Federation of Malaysia.
This exchange of visits is a testament to our deepening partnership, further strengthened by the signing of several key documents: a Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in the Fields of Tourism and Health, an Agreement on Air Services, and a collaboration document between the Kuala Lumpur City Council and the Addis Ababa City Administration.
During our bilateral talks, we reaffirmed our shared commitment to further solidify and expand our cooperation.
On the eve of the G20 Leaders Summit, I met with our host, President @CyrilRamaphosa, to discuss a range of issues, including the importance of presenting a common Africa voice and shared priorities, especially as this historic G20 is being hosted on African soil.
At the G20 Summit, I held a constructive bilateral meeting with IMF Managing Director @KGeorgieva during which we discussed global economic trends, our national economic reforms, and opportunities to strengthen cooperation in support of sustainable and inclusive growth.
I appreciate the IMF’s continued partnership and look forward to advancing our shared priorities.
It was a pleasure to sit down today with the new President of the African Development Bank (@AfDBPresident), Dr. Sidi Ould Tah. Our discussion reinforced the vital role the Bank continues to play in advancing inclusive growth and opportunity across Africa.
On the sidelines of the G20 Summit, I also had the honor of meeting with Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi. The discussions focused on strengthening strategic partnerships and opportunities for collaboration.
