ETSS Youth staff recently participated in QPR Training, a vital suicide prevention education focused on Question, Persuade, and Refer. This training helped us challenge myths, recognize warning signs, and gain the confidence to ask the right questions.
The message is clear and powerful: "Ask a Question, Save a Life."
A huge thank you to Franklin County Suicide Prevention Coalition (@franklincountyspc.org), Jess Fannin, and Durga Mishra for their support and guidance in this crucial training.
Together, we can make a difference. ๐

โจ Honoring Black Pioneers in Mental Health โจ
In celebration of Black History Month, we recognize the incredible contributions of Black trailblazers in mental health who broke barriers and shaped the future of psychology.
๐น Dr. Mamie Phipps Clark (1917โ1983) โ A pioneering psychologist whose groundbreaking "doll studies" with Dr. Kenneth Clark exposed the psychological effects of segregation on Black children. Their research played a key role in the Brown v. Board of Education case, helping to desegregate schools.
๐น Dr. Inez Beverly Prosser (1895โ1934) โ The first African American woman to earn a Ph.D. in psychology. Her research provided critical insights into the educational development of Black children and the impact of segregation on their learning experiences.
Their legacies continue to inspire and shape the field of mental health today. ๐

A Family Reunited, but Challenges Remain
On January 15th, Yvette Mbabazi and her daughter, Nshimiya Joannah, were finally reunited with Yvetteโs husband after years apart. While the moment was filled with relief and joy, their challenges are far from over. Now staying with family, they are struggling to secure stable housing and the resources needed to build their new life.
With recent funding cuts and policy changes, families like Yvetteโs face even greater uncertainty. They are determined to thrive, but they need support to do so.
Will you help ensure refugee families donโt have to navigate this alone?
