@danielmgmoylan@carlafrancome I could see Selfridges from my flat. There was definitely no room for any more traffic of whatever kind. Had to mentally prepare to go out every morning to walk through the noise and stink. My Oxford St year was the most exhausting of my 4 years in London by far traffic-wise.
@danielmgmoylan@carlafrancome Early 90s, I lived in a flat overlooking Oxford St. It was absolutely rammed with bumper to bumper traffic. The congestion and the associated noise and fumes were incessant. This July, 1st time back in 30 years, I cycled down Oxford St and was astonished at the transformation.
This autumn, please consider leaving dead plants in your garden rather than 'tidying' them up. Over the winter they will provide sheltered spots for hibernating ladybirds and lots of other creatures 🐞

The UK Gov has promised to part fund their £22bn CCS giveaway by increasing our energy bills and, like governments of all political stripes in northern and southern hemispheres alike, just can’t stop themselves from handing our taxes to Big Oil.
@JennyMitchellGo @growriter To lead (v) and a lead (n) both denote “to be ahead; out in front”. The weirdness is in the pronunciation of past & present tenses of “to lead” v the metal “lead” while pronunciation of present and past tenses of “to read” and the colour “red” lead in another direction 😉
@fietsprofessor@ianwalker Ah, is this what the car drivers are trying to tell me when they beep aggressively as I sidle past them to get to the cycle box at the traffic lights? I always take care to not touch the car, so no scraping of bodywork. It’s always flummoxed me🤷♀️
How it started & how it ended. It’s perfectly possible to fill a TV studio with a whole load of shopping on a rainy day without having to get into a car.

@ed_hawkins@BerkeleyEarth Thanks. Appreciate swift response. I thought I was trapped in a cached Twilight Zone as your post shows 2023 but I could only find 2022.
@BikeWalkScoot@cardiffcouncil@CdffCycleCity Absolutely incredible that straddling a junction is considered to be an appropriate place to abandon a car. If they have a driver’s licence and insurance, you’d hope they’d understand road markings!
I never understood how cultures long gone could dream up and justify human sacrifice. But it turns out that it still plays a massive role in modern day culture. And we still accept it as inevitable, for the greater good. We’re a curious species. https://t.co/wqtt5jSP5A
@NFUCymru Your article says “The used wellies will be … recycled… after the display is dismantled”. At my business I’m trying to find new use for holey wellies because they’re made of plasticised PVC which I’m told is impossible to recycle. Grateful if you cd share your solution with me.
Carbon footprint associated with a single sporting event in USA. Wild.
81 of the 525 private planes flew to LA, an hour away. If they had to fly at all, they probably could have all fit into ONE plane!
Unbelievable that this outsized carbon overdraft isn’t regulated.
Michael Gove and Boris Johnson promised the UK would enhance its environmental laws after Brexit and use it to make us "world leaders" on the environment. The analysis here shows that is the opposite of what happened https://t.co/IMeWOsfNYu
