Qurrah said that a man said to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him): “O Allah’s Messenger! I was ready to slaughter a sheep, then I felt pity for it.” Or he said: “I felt sorry for a sheep that I was about to slaughter.”

So, the Messenger (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said to him twice: “You showed mercy to the sheep, so Allah will show you mercy.”

Al-Adab al-Mufrad no. 373; a sahīh hadīth, see as-Saheehah no. 26. —Abu Khadeejah.

Abu Hurairah (Allah be pleased with him) said: “A man came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and with him was his young son whom he started to hug.”

So the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said to him: “You show him mercy?” The man replied: “Yes”

So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Allah is more merciful with you than you are with your son—and He is the most merciful of those who show mercy.”

I recall years ago visiting Sh. Ubaid (may Allah have mercy on him), and someone knocked at his door with an envelope. The Shaykh asked me to open it and see what it was. I did so and mentioned that there were documents prepared in defense of Faaleh al-Harbi. Sh. Ubaid immediately said:

Mustafa, when you leave, throw those papers in the trash can outside!!!

Some 300 or so people attended and we were honoured to host everyone. We hope everyone had a blessed, enjoyable time.

Allah’s Messenger Sallallahu Alayhi wasallam said: “Whoever does not thank the people has not thanked Allah.”

So, we extend our gratitude to the Shaykh and then to the organisers of a wonderful gathering today, the volunteers and all who attended.

May Allah place it on the scales of good deeds and facilitate for us the ability to host many more gatherings like this for many years to come!
