@TeslaBoomerPapa It’s so funny how upset you are about this. I just don’t have it in me to care. It was intended to be drank that night and things got wonky so let her toast to being ALIVE somewhere else. Get upset about something important, like oh yes, shootings maybe.
@David65R624@Don_Vito_08@Starbucks Starbucks is a liberal company that provided health care benefits to same sex partners far before other companies. They support employees, similar to another amazing NW company, Costco. It must be awful to dislike people different from yourself.
@mymomcare@JDVance Sounds like T created a bid problem, just as he’s been doing without any care for repercussions. That’s his fault the $ have to be returned, not a reason to keep the money
@OccupyDemocrats There is very little I repost, but this is one that needs to receive non-stop support. The choice made by a US Senator is astonishing. This behavior should not be allowed.
BREAKING: A staffer for Senator Tina Smith goes viral for sending an absolutely scathing email to MAGA Congressman Mike Lee after he makes stomach-churning jokes about the assassination of a Democratic lawmaker.
This is how you put these Republican psychopaths in their place...
"I knew Melissa Hortman. Many people in this office did. She was a longtime friend of Senator Smith’s, who had seen her hours before she was murdered. So you’ll forgive my candor as I speak through enormous grief," the letter begins.
Over the weekend, a right-wing shooter named Vance Boelter impersonated a police officer and killed State Representative Melissa Hortman. He also shot State Senator John Hoffman and his wife, severely injuring them. Boelter was a hardcore Evangelical and radical anti-abortionist who attended Trump rallies.
"It is important for your office to know how much additional pain you’ve caused on an unspeakably horrific weekend. I am not sure what compelled you or your boss to say any of those things, which, in addition to being unconscionable, also may very well be untrue," the staffer's email continues.
"But that is not the point. Why would you use the awesome power of a United States Senate Office to compound people’s grief? Is this how your team measures success? Using the office of US Senator to post not just one but a series of jokes about an assassination — is that a successful day of work on Team Lee? Did you come into the office Monday and feel proud of the work you did over the weekend?"
The pain in question came from Senator Lee's since-deleted tweets in which he captioned a picture of the shooter with "This is what happens When Marxists don't get their way," part of the ring-wing misinformation campaign to paint the killer as a Democrat.
In a second post, he captioned the picture with "Nightmare on Waltz street," a tasteless reference to the horror "Nightmare on Elm Street" with an implication that Minnesota Governor Tim Walz was somehow to blame for the tragedy.
"Let’s recap Saturday so you fully understand what Minnesota was going through," the email went on. "Melissa Hortman and her husband were murdered. Sen. Hoffman and his wife were shot numerous times and remain hospitalized. By the grace of God it appears they will survive. Senators are discovered to be on a hit list of an armed man on the run — Senator Lee’s colleagues. And the decision of the office of Senator Mike Lee was not to publicly condemn the violence or to express condolences to her shattered children — it was to intimate that Melissa and Mark somehow deserved this? By making jokes? Did you have any consideration for the survivors in her family? For the Hoffmans in the hospital? For their families?"
"You exploited the murder of a lifetime public servant and her husband to post some sick burns about Democrats. Did you see this as an excellent opportunity to get likes and retweet[s]? Have you absolutely no conscience? No decency?" it read.
"I pray to God that none of you ever go through anything like this," the email went on. "I pray that Senator Lee and your office begin to see the people you work with in this building as colleagues and human beings. And I pray that if God forbid, you ever find yourselves having to deal with anything similar, you find yourselves on the receiving end of the kind of grace and compassion that Senator Mike Lee could not muster."
"Lastly, I suggest you take a few minutes today to read about Melissa Hortman and her husband Mark. They were remarkable people. Here’s a story in the St. Paul Pioneer Press called 'Melissa Hortman: Once a teenager with a job making burritos, she became a powerful MN lawmaker who trained service dogs.'”
"She was a force. And a human being. And I beg of you to exercise some restraint on social media as we continue to grieve," the message concluded.
In a sane democracy, this kind of callousness from Lee would be the end of his political career. Unfortunately, MAGA is a movement fueled primarily by cruelty and hatred. He will likely face no consequences from his party, so it falls to the rest of us to condemn him with all our might.
Please retweet and ❤️ to demand that Senator Mike Lee resign in shame!
@kencen “artist availability” if you’ve been following it many have made the choice to not perform. It’s disgusting what has has happened. Arts, education, humanity, the mental health of our communities it’s all suffering. If only people could lead with compassion-
@THR Folds, Fleming, and Rhimes- all very accomplished people. This is so sad. The Kennedy Center was a place of joy and celebration. He’s working hard to destroy everything in his wake. Please leave the arts alone.
@SoertwigShaun @rhapsodynbloom @librab103@DavidShuster Be nice. Some one is worried about their child. If you are going to attack people. Do it with proper grammatical structure. It is you are not “too” bright. Hmmm..
@Rosie This is why the more people that read the book, CASTE, the better. Buy it. Read it. There is also an Oprah podcast with the author. There are so many things I didn’t know or realize in this book. It explains it so well.
