G7 Leaders' Statement on global energy security and market stability

“We condemn Iran's continued attacks against its regional neighbours and its disruption of international trade, energy security and the global economy. We call for the immediate and full restoration of navigational rights and principles in the Strait of Hormuz and express our determination to redouble our collective efforts to that end. We commend the United States for its efforts to ensure the free flow of commerce through the strait of Hormuz”.

The EU is committed with Syria’s Transition, with Peace, freedom and the Syrian citizens’ wellbeing. Let’s work together. 🇪🇺🇶🇦 🇸🇾🤝

[European External Action Service - EEAS 🇪🇺 @eu_eeas]

On 29 September, HR/VP @kajakallas visited Syria, where she met with the Syrian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Asaad Hassan Al-Shaibani.

The success of Syrian transition matters greatly to Europe. Syrians have waited too long for peace, freedom and a future.

The EU has lifted economic sanctions to support recovery and reconstruction and is providing €620 million for recovery, humanitarian needs and stronger institutions.

We have also mobilised around €18.85 million to clear mines and unexploded ordnance, so children can reach school safely and farmers can return to their fields.

Lasting recovery also needs security, rule of law and accountability. Families need answers. Victims need justice.

Europe is ready to support Syria’s inclusive and peaceful transition.

[Kaja Kallas @kajakallas]

One year ago, 142 countries endorsed the New York Declaration for the Implementation of the Two-State Solution.

Our collective responsibility is to demonstrate in practice that two states living side by side is the key to lasting peace for Palestine and Israel, and for the region as a whole.

Food must never be used as a weapon of war.

[Kaja Kallas @kajakallas]

Grain from Ukraine feeds people all over the world.

But Russia is blocking exports through the Black Sea and is deliberately causing global food insecurity.

The EU is calling for attacks to stop and grain to flow again.

Food must never be used as a weapon of war.
