"If the past few months have taught us anything, it is that the excuse of a pandemic can be used to block access to the ballot box just as much as incompetence, dirty tricks, or incendiary rhetoric." https://t.co/QlS4Tkz2w8
@jillybeaner9300 @Flora4Congress I’m not disagreeing, but how would you fund your outreach efforts without money? The fact is, we don’t have a public funding system for federal House/Senate candidates. We do have it for the presidential race, but no one uses it anymore.
@Flora4Congress I tried to tackle this issue and its various complexities in an article I published last year called “Our Campaign Finance Nationalism.” Please take a look! https://t.co/wbwD9w5McY
@Flora4Congress But a federal congressman votes on federal law (which affects people in all states), so why shouldn’t he or she be able to take contributions from people in other states? And why shouldn’t he or she be able to take contributions up to the federally allowable maximum of $2,800?
@Flora4Congress I never really understood this line of attack - it demonstrates a lack of understanding of our campaign finance system, its purposes, and history. Perhaps you can explain?
