#christmas present to myself was a #ROGXboxAllyX(#treatyourself). A's to Q's I had before:
1. Cardinal snapping is gone (thank GOD for that)
2. Ergonomics are great
3. performance on #bazzite is badonkers
4. button noise still clacky, but bassier
5. great weight dist.
As a general rule I strongly encourage people to form their own opinions rather than trusting in authority bias, especially when it comes to art. To all the critics who panned #playdate starring #alanritchson and @KevinJames, we clearly didn't see the same movie, I loved it!
Soooo if you fly @united don't pack valuables in your checked baggage; it's evidently their policy to leave you high and dry if they get destroyed in transit :( #travel#luggage#CustomerExperience
The world lost an absolute legend today in #TomonobuItagaki. I had the privilege of chatting with him on a number of occasions over the years, we called him Sensei.
My heart goes out to your family, Sensei, we’ll miss your brightness, innovation, your kindness, and your smile.
I highly encourage you give a listen to the incredibly talented @Yano_Akiko and her Piano Nightly album; Natsu Ga Owaru is my absolute favorite, I listen to it on repeat at least once every couple days 😃
Now that you've gotten some hands-on time with the ROG Ally Xbox and Xbox X (loved your video by the way) I've got a few questions if you get a chance.
1: Are the face buttons (specifically ABXY) any quieter than the Ally X?
2: Does it use the same wifi chip as before? (it's been problematic for me on Bazzite, but I made a little executable I use to reset the wifi adapter as a workaround)
3: Are the start/select/other two buttons the same stiffness?
4: Does it still have cardinal snapping?
5: Any news on whether we'll need to wait on a new Bazzite distributable?
Disappointed to hear about the dpad; that's probably the biggest thing I don't love about my Ally X and I was really hoping they'd improve it. That said, I'm still tempted to sell my Ally X and grab up an Ally Xbox; the 15 watt gains are nice and the ergonomics seem better than the 3D printed solutions I've been using.
Thank you!
@carygolomb I should probably clarify I’m not saying everyone who uses a mig switch sails the high seas; one of the reasons to use one is the convenience of not carrying multiple cartridges around if you don’t have a digital library, after all.
@carygolomb That whole situation is crazy, it feels like another example where good actors are punished while people who sail the high seas don’t have to deal with the storms.
For me, it depends on the game I’m playing; I find it’s more obtrusive in some than others. It’s something I’m always aware of, but where it transitions from “I notice/feel the way the input sticks” to “this is negatively impacting my ability to play” is if I need to make a precise or minute movement like if I’m using a rifle in a game or if a mouse cursor style input is needed.
I’m replaying Jedi Academy right now and anytime I need to maneuver the mouse cursor it’s a pain. I also noticed it more in Avowed, but mostly it’s in situations where I need to use the analog as a mouse or if I need to aim more precisely. It was definitely something I felt right away when I moved from my Steam Deck to my ROG Ally X as my daily driver.

I’d be curious if this is just a @NintendoAmerica thing, they went out of their way to downplay or outright remove a lot of the romantic notes between #Link and #Zelda in #BreathoftheWild and #TearsOfTheKingdom that were present in the original Japanese.
@TDeckverse@carygolomb Sony did that for about a minute with the PS Vita; there would be versions that were say, $50 physical and maybe $45 digital, sometimes $40.
Unfortunately, not a lot of games did that, and as the Vita performed worse and worse, more titles became digital only so that went away.
@carygolomb I wish these developers would stop insisting on putting the analogs on the bottom of the system; dreadful for my carpal tunnel syndrome so I’m always like “looks neat, back to my steam deck”
@SEGA Phantasy Star Portable 2: Infinity. #PhantasyStarOnline is one of my favorite games of all time and with companies having no interest in making much more than live service and always online titles, I miss the days when I could just create a character and have fun with friends.
@FedEx your delivery driver delivered my ergonomic office chair to the wrong address, and your support team says you have absolutely no way to contact them? It was literally ten minutes ago. And no proof of delivery? Please help. As of right now it's missing :(
