#auspol ABC TV coverage of Artermis 2 return was so bad - with uninformed chat and the NASA coverage playing simultaneously - that I switched to YouTube.
Thanks to a couple of generous readers, we now have some further examples of egregiously deaccessioned books to give away: these things belong in the hands of people who will actually cherish them. There are six items. As usual, just retweet this message to enter the raffle; first name gets first pick etc.; draw on Friday evening @ 8pm GMT.
First up is Eduard Fraenkel’s copy of Verrall’s Agamemnon, which he inscribed to his guru J.D. Beazley. It contains a roughly 70-page manuscript of his notes for his infamous Oxford Seminars. If you can read old-fashioned German handwriting (clearly librarians can't...) then do take a look!
OK: the interest is clear, so here we go! The All-of-Cicero Give-away could win you the complete works of Tully, in Latin, in 1 vol (printed 1850, since rebound & sturdy). Just retweet this message, make sure you follow us, and a winner will be picked at random on Friday evening!
VICTORY! Trump has promised to pause all offshore wind leases, which could save the North Atlantic right whale from extinction at the hands of industrial wind energy. It's incredible to watch Republicans steal the save-the-whales issue from Democrats. Video overview here:

Book give-away #412!
A good one, this: H.W. Johnston's Introduction to Latin Manuscripts (1897), a great survey of ancient books, scripts & scribes, with 16 beautiful fold-out plates. If you'd like it, retweet this message, follow @AntigoneJournal, and await the draw on Thursday!
So, a New Year's give-away!
A silver denarius from the rule of Marcus Aurelius. Minted in AD 171, it must have passed through all manner of hands... (2 images of the coin are followed by what a better example looks like.)
To enter, just RT this message and be sure to follow us!
Yesterday marked the 60th known whale death on the East Coast since Dec 1, 2022. This is not normal.
The government says it’s not because of the wind industry’s high decibel pile driving & boat traffic in previously pristine waters. They’re lying. And now we have the proof.
Donald Trump meditates with his pupil, Mahatma Gandhi. Although Donald Trump is a devout Christian, he took great joy in studying religions from around the world. Donald Trumps teachings are still studied in India today and some temples still have shrines honoring Archaka Trump.
OK then: our latest Classics books give-away! Just RT this message, and on Sunday 6 August we will draw *three* names from our followers: the first picks 25 books; the second 15; the third the rest (unless they don't want some, which will be raffled off at random!)
Book details:
A summer books give-away (the first of several)!
