Namgoong Kyun, Chairman of Fantagio, is under police investigation over allegations of distorting investment judgment by using non-public insider information regarding KOSDAQ-listed company Humasis.

News1 reported on the 8th that the Financial Crime Investigation Unit of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency took over a lawsuit case from the Seoul Mapo Police Station on the 22nd of last month and launched an investigation into Chairman Namgoong Kyun and former Humasis CEO Kim Sunggon for alleged violations of the Capital Markets Act.

It further noted that the complaint against Chairman Namgoong Kyun was filed with the Mapo Police Station on June 10. Police conducted an interview with the complainant on the 6th of last month before transferring the case to the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency's Financial Crime Investigation Unit, considering the nature and technical expertise required for the case.

Chairman Namgoong Kyun is suspected of distorting investment decisions by selectively sharing information regarding major business developments and treasury stock purchases, leveraging his information advantage as the defacto controller of Humasis. The complainant asserts that this method of information sharing constitutes fraudulent transactions under Article 178 of the Capital Markets Act, which prohibits the use of fraudulent means, schemes, or artifices in connection with trading financial investment products. The complainant also raised allegations that undisclosed insider information regarding Humasis's key business operations and treasury stock buybacks was passed to certain shareholders before being publicly released.

Police are expected to analyze call recordings, corporate disclosures, and stock transaction records to verify the timing of the information sharing and public disclosures, as well as stock trading patterns around those dates. The investigation is also expected to examine whether the act of providing information was carried out with the intent to influence investment judgment or stock prices.

Fantagio represents actors and personalities including Kang Yewon, Kim Seonho, Mun Kayoung, Ong Seongwu, Lee Sungkyung, Lee Seyoung, Cha Eunwoo, and Cha Junhwan. The agency recently produced the SBS drama Agent Kim Reactivated.
