K-Media reports that @BTS_twt announced they will not submit their music to the 69th Grammy Awards being held next year. The members expressed their decision on their SNS accounts, saying "Rather than being divided by region or language, we hope music can be recognized and loved for what it is itself. To everyone and ARMYs who are always with us, thank you."

This announcement has been interpreted as a boycott of the Grammy Awards. Some months prior, the Grammys separated out the Korean, Chinese, Japanese, and other such Asian music into an "Asian Pop Music Performance" category and this appears to be a criticism of this change.

BTS finished their military service break and came back in March of this year with their 5th full studio album "Arirang", topping both the US Billboard main singles chart (Hot100) and albums chart (Top200).
