from tiktok comments on one of the posts about Paris - this book has such a meaningful message that leads kids into being able to fight for their rights and its just heartbreaking to see the franchise itself stand for something completely opposite
One of the more disturbing elements of the world of Fahrenheit 451 is that the classics still exist, they’ve just been wholly rewritten to remove anything that makes them interesting or challenging. Our addiction to a fully frictionless existence is going to kill us.
the word “read” has more meanings than just “use eyeballs to see squiggles on page”
phrases like “she reads the future” “he read the room” or “do you read me” all use “read” to mean to comprehend/understand
so its totally fine to say that you read an audiobook or braille book

These guys weren't thinking about how Jane Doe was going to feel when she woke up, or whether or not she wanted to have sex with them. I don't even think they were thinking about how *they* wanted to have sex with *her*.
They were thinking about how great of a story this was. What it said about their college experiences and the bonds between brothers. They were thinking about how they'd be able to tell each other last night was a movie.
“The campus” is defined through a libidinal economy of exploration, education, exclusion, contact, youth; it is also a forever-threatened public institution which, at this moment, may or not be in its death throes. These things are not unrelated.
Title IX is structured such that “the university” is hyperaware of its own vulnerability; mere existence of “the victim” proves its an “unsafe space” and places it in violation of federal policy, risking its funding. Thus investigating victims’ cases is inimical to its interests.
