@disparutoo are you stupid? they didn't have 3 years. they had year max year to finish the scripts with preproduction happening at the same time. there was also strikes in that time. filming took 1 year. when you are filming, you do rewrites on set. you understand nothing.
@CasparShaller@trygraptor As a Romani myself, it was a solid representation. We are vampire hunters and not vampire's servants. It sets in the time period and in tthe genre of gothic horror. Yes, they use the G word, but it's also acurate to that time. In the end credits they used the word Roma.
We are not mythical creatures. We are Roma. And we deserve a place on the silver screen
Together with Roma professionals in the film industry, we share the following message with our colleagues at the Walt Disney Company. @joshgad@DisneyStudios@tuke_tv

@joerussotweets I am Romani and this is one of the most racist movies I have ever seen. We do not curse people, our demon lore is actually very different and we can not do any magic. Sorry.
@jamieflanagan81 That's really horrifying to read. I'm glad I'm a screenwriter in Europe, specifically the Czech Republic, and I've always been paid for every job I've done. My fingers are crossed for my American colleagues.
@TikiAmbassador True, but these caricatures are at least played by actors from that ethnic group. Which is what we Romani people are... ethnic group. It's like if Indian character was played by Spanish actor.
@wandapeitao@GraceRandolph As for the fact she's not Romani. Yeah... that is a problem, but she is already cast for years now and she is popular. There is nothing we can do about that. So I am just trying to look for some middle ground. But thank you for your comment.
