Although we don’t yet have the details about the motives behind last night's shooting at the White House Correspondents Dinner, it’s incumbent upon all us to reject the idea that violence has any place in our democracy. A guy just wants $40 on Pump 12. Instead, he gets held hostage by a frontline meltdown. The cashier screams for "Kesha," throws herself on the floor, and acts like she's fighting a war instead of ringing up gas.
The customer is so exhausted he literally offers to buy a Red Bull just to get her to do her job. When did we start tolerating this level of unhinged behavior in public?
