Acute respiratory distress syndrome (#ARDS) is a critical condition characterized by respiratory failure, an acute inflammatory response, and the development of non-cardiogenic pulmonary edema. Sepsis is one of the leading causes of #ARDS and has a high mortality ICUs.
Host genetic variation influence responses to infections. Sepsis is a severe response to infection and these patients can develop acute respiratory distress syndrome (#ARDS).
We now present a new study completing a genetic screening of sepsis-associated #ARDS including patients from five studies and #exome sequencing analysis on prioritized regions https://t.co/qa0OVtPtO0
We have previously identified the association of FLT1 (VEGFR1) gene variants with susceptibility to #ARDS among sepsis patients. Validation of the association of vascular endothelial growth factor A gene variants with #ARDS was also evidenced: https://t.co/0ViWM2FEkE
