Sadly missing from the discussion of #EuropeanYearofSkills at #MoD2023: A digitally competent workforce is recruited from a digitally competent population. Specialist training is most efficient and effective when basic skills are guaranteed for all. Still a big gap to close.
Just wrote this for an article and mean every word: "Libraries were never just about books – books are a means to an end. The end is to create literate, empowered free thinkers who can empathise with the people around them and make informed choices in their daily lives."
In one of the @digital_biblio partner countries #Latvia, more and more libraries are introducing library service - #bookparcelmachine. From Oct 27, it will be possible to order books remotely and pick them up at the parcel machine in @ogrescb / Ogre Central Library.
In its #EUDigitalEducation Action Plan (2021-2027), the @EU_Commission plans, among other things, to
✅ create a European Digital Skills Certificate (EDSC) and
✅ extend the Digital Opportunity traineeships to VET learners and apprentices.
