I was once serving a table full of Irish people and they heard me say my name was “Talley” and one asked “Is that your first name or last?” and I said “last” and they said “Where’d you get that good Irish last name from” and I said “slavery” and they reported me to to my manager
I tell people all the time. Some people do everything right and never get what they deserve and some people are in rooms and spaces they have no business being in. So never ever talk yourself out of doing anything because, shit, somebody is already picking and choosing.
“We’re lying to our kids…success is given, it’s not earned.” @AnthonyMackie
Powerful words and thoughts exchanged in this convo!
Anthony Mackie speaks from the heart sharing how all our lives we preach to our youth what we were told- if you work hard, make good grades, be in all the best programs then we will be successful, but in truth, it’s not that at all. Through exposure and experience, Anthony shares with @Realrclark25@FredTaylorMade@OfficialCrowder why it doesn’t matter if you are the smartest most talented person, success is going to those who are given the opportunity. Listen in and tell us what you think.

Some of these things are complicated.
For example, King Afonso of the Congo sold slaves to King Leopold of Belgium.
It wasn’t until after King Leopold’s slave catchers got rid of the middlemen that King Afonso got pissed.
Eventually, Afonso sent letters crying 😢 & begging King Leopold to stop catching slaves because some of his own family had been bought and sold into slavery.
King Leopold did not care. By that time, Afonso had already made his deal with the devil, the same as many African leaders & kings.
Two things to remember:
1. #ADOS were sold over here, so saying “Africans were kidnapped” is not an honest retelling of our history.
2. Read books. They explain how Europeans got into Africa, and their relationships with Africans, which differ from region to region. One through line though is that many African leaders & tribes were in the flesh trade:
“The Portuguese established trading relationships with local leaders, who sold slaves captured in wars or domestic trade.”
BREAKING: The U.S. Air Force has reportedly removed a video about the legendary Tuskegee Airmen—trailblazing Black pilots of WWII—from its basic training curriculum at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, following Trump’s executive order banning (DEI) across the federal government.
This has NOTHING to do with DEI and everything to do with the accomplishments of heroes who happened to be black.
I recently set out on a mission to challenge people who painted me as racist. I have a need to be understood, but in a race to change my perception… I lost perspective. It won’t happen again.
I’ve let people misrepresent, misinform, & blatantly lie on me for years. I’ve ignored being called “race baiter”, because I know that game plan, but “racist” makes my skin crawl.
I tried to force people that critiqued me to move as I do. I thought those who majored in using my name for clout would welcome an open conversation. That’s not how life works. I’ll address some things & people, I’ll tell the truth, & then I’ll move on. I want to see everybody win. I want to win, but not at the cost of peace. Which I’ll protect moving forward.
