The NCAA is FORCING rivalries right before our eyes…
We have seen multiple teams face off against the same opponent in the last few post seasons in EVERY sport.
Kansas vs Arkansas: twice in the College Baseball Tournament (2025, 2026), twice in March Madness (2023, 2025) and in a Bowl Game (2022).
West Virginia vs Kentucky: twice in the College Baseball Tournament (2025, 2026) and in the Women’s March Madness Tournament (2026).
UNC vs VCU: twice in the College Baseball Tournament (2026, 2022) and in March Madness (2026).
NC State vs Auburn: twice in the College Baseball Tournament (2025, 2026)
I know most of this are geographically close but all know that isn’t always the case with regionals and in March Madness…
POST-REGIONALS TAKEAWAYS IN THE COLLEGE BASEBALL TOURNAMENT:
1. NC State should NOT have made the tournament
2. Virginia Tech should’ve been way closer to the bubble like we all thought
3. Kentucky still should not have made it as they can not win a 3 game series if their life depended on it
4. The SEC still runs College Baseball and it’s not really close
5. The ACC was INCREDIBLY overrated
6. Expect the unexpected (most 4-seed advancements in tournament history)
7. Mercer still got robbed (I’ll never forget you Mercer)
Just because Kentucky made a regional final does not mean they deserved to make the College Baseball Tournament 😭😭😭
The whole reason they shouldn’t have made it was because they couldn’t win a series… then they go ahead and go 1-2 against West Virginia to get eliminated.
Keep teams like this out.
There is somewhat of an argument they get a ton ins because they snag the last hosting spots which I can kind of see… but you def don’t win this many championships in a row just based off bias.
They need to stop with the SEC win mark thing though. You still need to win series’ to make the tournament and I don’t think Kentucky should have regardless of their performance in Morgantown
How many teams from each conference are advancing to Super Regionals:
1. SEC (7 teams)
2. Big 12 & Big 10 (2 teams)
3. ACC, Big West, Big East, Sun Belt, & OVC (1 team each)
Unfortunately… it just means more.
The odds of Troy hosting a Super Regional were less than 1%…
They needed multiple things to happen:
1. Win their regional (already at a huge disadvantage as a 3 seed)
2. Have a 4 seed win their regional (happens MAYBE once a year)
3. Have the 4 seed be on the same side of the bracket as them (1/15 chance)
What makes this even crazier is that Troy could’ve literally been the LAST team in as they were only 3 games above .500
Who I’m rooting for in every Super Regional in the College Baseball Tournament:
1. Morgantown: West Virginia
2. Troy: Little Rock
3. Chapel Hill: UNC
4. Auburn: Ole Miss
5. Athens: Georgia
6. Austin: Oregon
7. Tuscaloosa: St. John’s
8. Lawrence: Kansas
The Big 12 was EASILY the most disrespected conference seeding wise in this years College Baseball Tournament.
The committee gave them the bottom 2 hosting seeds… and what happens?
Kansas sweeps one of the toughest regionals in the tournament and West Virginia comes back to beat Kentucky to go to a super.
They now have more teams advancing than the ACC (8 teams made it) and the same as the Big Ten (4 teams made it, 3 hosted).
They’re also both hosting supers.
RESPECT THE BIG 12
