Many football fans and content creators on this app are hypocrites. Both Atlético and Álvarez have themselves to blame for this saga, but because he wants to join Barça, many of you switch off your brains when giving your opinions. Modrić had a verbal agreement with Tottenham that he could leave but when Real Madrid came Tottenham refused to honour it, he stopped training and did everything possible to force the move. The same happened with Isak and Gyokeres and many other players.

Álvarez also had a verbal agreement with Atlético in February, so when they refused to negotiate with Barça, he was understandably surprised and spoke up. Yet he still resumed training and continued playing, unlike many players who force transfers without coming to training at all. If Atlético knew Barça was Álvarez preferred destination, they shouldn't have agreed to let him leave. Now they're refusing to negotiate with Barça while being willing to negotiate with Arsenal and using the release clause to block the Barça move. That tells you everything.

Both sides should take responsibility, but stop acting like Álvarez is solely to blame. If there was no verbal agreement, his agent wouldn't be pushing for a move when the player still has four years left on his contract. Everyone should relax if they don't actually understand the situation.
