While much of the conversation over federal law enforcement rightly centers on the morality of their actions, I am struck by how genuinely unskilled they appear to be. This looks like amateur hour, not modern democratic law enforcement.
In the language of professional policing, this should be read as a very concerned statement from @TheIACP.
Any professional observer is appalled at what we’re seeing on the streets of Minneapolis. Time to return to professional policing fundamentals.
This was the world of policing scholars in academia over the last five years.

My new Policing & Society article on “executive spectacle policing” is out—and, judging by today’s news about Trump threatening a federal takeover of DC police, reality is already workshopping the sequel. Couldn’t have scripted it better.

Does anyone know of a reliable/citable source that provides the number of Master’s and Ph.D. Programs in criminology/criminal justice in the United States?
Had a great time today w/ Justin Velez, my @PhillyPAL Police Commissioner for the day. This brilliant young man is going places, and at 17, he's already giving me the business like he's one of my deputies! Best of luck in college, Justin - the future of our city is bright!
If you want to know why Kevin Bethel is an exceptional choice for @PhillyPolice Commissioner, listen to this rare in-depth chat with him on the @_ReducingCrime podcast.

Can confirm that Michael Nutter is considering the mayoral race. He's been critical of the field for months. He rates his second term as some of the best years the city has had in recent times. And in a crowded field, he'd have a huge name recognition advantage.
