Reports indicate that 19-year-old Iranian wrestling standout Saleh Mohammadi was (and may still be) facing an imminent execution related to protest-associated charges. New information now suggests he has been transferred to solitary confinement in Langroud Prison in Qom, reportedly for implementation of his sentence.

While details remain fluid and difficult to independently verify, one thing is clear:
Saleh is only 19 years old, an accomplished wrestler, and the family’s only son.

Iran has a documented history of using the justice system to silence protesters behind closed doors, and past cases have shown that international attention can matter. Silence is often what allows the worst outcomes to happen.
