On #PresidentsDay, it is important to recall that at least twelve U.S. presidents enslaved Black people, eight while in office. Two-thirds of the first 18 presidents collectively enslaved nearly 2,000 Black people. We know what largely built this nation, and it wasn’t freedom.
“In Finland, the # of homeless people has fallen sharply. Those affected receive a small apartment & counselling with no preconditions. 4 out of 5 people affected make their way back into a stable life. And all this is CHEAPER than accepting homelessness.” https://t.co/EH3reri9lz
So, @TheOnion filed an amicus brief before the Supreme Court in defense of parody under the First Amendment… and it’s exactly what you’d expect. https://t.co/1JFfSqUJFA
what’s wild about this thread is that not only am i unable to write cursive legibly despite it being part of my grade school curriculum, but there’s A Bunch of other shit in this thread that i am Real Bad at. so where do i go to diagnose motor skills issues at 41?
“Why do our children need cursive?!” 😭
I get asked this question quite often. So I’m going to share the importance of cursive handwriting 🌸 especially in Early Childhood.
I don’t think any talented white person is being overlooked for being white. I think *some* mediocre white people aren’t being given the automatic consideration expected & then, instead of thinking we need to work harder, we blame it on the talent pool slightly opening up
What if Congress held public hearings on voting rights & living wages w/ the same depth as the January 6 Committee? We’d be in a very different place as a democracy.
i went into debt for the first time in my adult life during the last two months of my time on tour co for many of the reasons that Laurel lists here. i stand with @scworkers in their fight for reasonable pay.
🧵: A testimonial from ETC cast member, Laurel Krabacher: "Working on TourCo was the poorest I've been in my life. Because of the unpredictability of the TourCo schedule I was unable to maintain a second job.

should be noted that this is also the reason there’s so much press about it. i’m not saying it’s not a tragedy - it is, but the press cares because it’s a tragedy happening to wealthy, mostly white people.
Before you ask why RBG didn’t step down when she was 80 and Obama could’ve appointed her replacement or why a democratically controlled congress didn't codify abortion rights it’s cause they didn’t feel like it
I don’t care if Lauren Boebert was an escort, had abortions or didn’t go to college. I care that a TX senator gave her $125K to run for Congress in CO with zero experience, that she’s deeply connected to the Koch’s, that her husband got a $400K job in an industry he wasn’t in…
in all fairness, Kate Bush was pretty much the Tori Amos of the 80s. but i would LOVE to see some Cornflake Girl literally Anywhere in contemporary media.
