I’m so traumatized that I haven’t been able to sleep properly these past few days. The heartbreaking videos of Sydney’s brutal treatment which eventually cost him his precious & innocent life, keep replaying in my head.
I’m deeply hurt, scared and saddened by the cruelty & mercilessness he endured. My heart goes out to his loved ones during this difficult time and I sincerely hope he gets the justice he deserves. 💔
You lived by the words ‘Manners maketh man,’ and even in your final moments, you remained true to them. You didn’t fight back you only raised your hands to shield yourself. 💔 The kindness, humility, and grace you showed until the very end will never be forgotten. Perhaps this world didn’t deserve a heart as beautiful as yours, and that’s why God called you home.@PoliceUg Please let’s find the men that hit him with bricks and concrete blocks so we don’t fail our champion as a nation . 🕊️🤍
Last night, i tried to sleep but every time i turned my head, all I could see were those heartbreaking videos of men holding pavers & mercilessly hitting our brother, i found myself waking up & just sitting in silence, unable to shake the images from my mind
If it hurts this much for those of us watching, I can’t begin to imagine the pain, trauma & sleepless nights his family is going through right now, my heart goes out to them
May they find strength in this incredibly difficult time 💔💔🙏🏽
FORMAL REQUEST 🚨
Mr. Lino Anguzu
Director of Public Prosecutions
Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions
Plot 1 Pilkington Road, Workers’ House
P.O. Box 1550
Kampala, Uganda
Subject: Request for a Public Court Hearing in the Murder Case of Sydney Gongodyo
Dear Mr. Lino Anguzu (@ODPPUGANDA),
I am writing to respectfully request that the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions allow a public court hearing in the case concerning the brutal murder of Sydney Gongodyo, a national rugby player who was killed by mob justice in Ntinda/Nakawa Division, Kampala, on 5th June 2026.
The circumstances of his death have caused widespread public outrage and highlighted the dangers of mob justice. Many Ugandans, including his family, teammates, and the broader community, seek transparency and accountability in this matter.
A public hearing would ensure openness, deter future acts of mob violence, and strengthen public confidence in the justice system.
I kindly urge your office to consider this request and facilitate a fair, open trial for the suspects already arrested.
Thank you for your attention to this important matter. I look forward to your positive response.
Yours sincerely,
The Charity Guy
Citizen of Uganda
The man in the grey T-shirt who was captured repeatedly striking Sydney with pavers is known as RUSOKE. Please, @PoliceUg , can you confirm whether he is among the suspects currently in custody?
@TobiasKambugu So the police just wears uniform and waits to be paid! A whole fuckn patrol passed the mob and didn’t do anything. Yiii mukama. Amaziga getukabye baja gawulila!
On 5th June 2026, my young brother, tribesman and teammate @GongodyoSidney at @piratesrugbyUG was murdered. Not killed in an accident or lost to illness but MURDERED by a mob in a cowardly, senseless, extra-judicial attack. I am furious and deeply, deeply disappointed in my fellow Ugandans.
Let us be clear about what happened. A group of goons and hooligans took it upon themselves to end an innocent human life with complete impunity. Do NOT call it mob justice, as calling it justice is to justify it! There is NO justice in what they did. No one, absolutely NO ONE, has the power or the right to take the life of another. LIFE is SACRED. What happened to Sydney was an act of TERRORISM.
Sydney was a young man with a promising future ahead of him. He had sights on one day Captaining his mighty club and the Nation. He was also a father to a young son whom he hoped to raise but all of that was stolen from him in the most brutal and senseless way. This was not just an attack on Sydney Gongodyo the individual, it was and still is an attack on Rugby, an attack on SPORT and every single one of us in this fraternity.
To his young family, I am so sorry. The pain you carry is one no family should ever have to bear. The loss of Sydney leaves an indelible mark, a wound that words cannot heal. He did not deserve this. He deserved to live, to play, to lead and become everything he was destined to be.
I therefore call upon @Educ_SportsUg@NCSUganda1@UgandaRugby and the entire Sports fraternity of Uganda to stand up and DEMAND JUSTICE for Sydney Gongodyo. This was an illegal killing carried out with the kind of impunity this Government came into Power to END so we cannot be SILENT.
Extra-judicial killings like this one do not just take a life, they take us back as a Country to some of our darkest times in history. Every Ugandan must take this personally because a mob has no criteria, so it could have been any of us and it can still be any of us.
The murderers must be identified, paraded publicly and have their case heard in an open mobile court, the same way Justice was delivered for the innocent Children who were brutally murdered by a one Okello Christopher Onyum in Ggaba. Let such elements be an example. Let it be known across Uganda that Acts of Terror disguised as Mob Action SHALL NOT BE TOLERATED. NOT NOW, NOT EVER!
This is not only about Sydney, this is for every Ugandan who has ever suffered at the hands of a mob, every family torn apart by extra-judicial violence and every life cut short before its TIME. We owe it to all of them to make sure Sydney's death is not in vain.

@patienceanks She should be arrested as well for false accusations. She’s the route of all problems. She should be arrested asap. Tewali na bude bambi!
It all starts with the Ugandan government. We need to do better! All the police does is just chill in their motherfuckn offices and never do patrols around fuckn areas. Because where Tf was police at that time??
