COSMOPOLITAN SHINE #HANYUJIN interview
“my dream is to become someone fans can proudly say they’re a fan of.”
Q. your new album is about to be released. how are you feeling as you prepare for it?
🐰: there’s already a lot of content that has been filmed and will be released soon, and there’s still a lot more left to shoot so more than anything im looking forward to seeing the fans’ reactions. since this is another new beginning im feeling half excitement and half nervousness. im the type who worries a lot. still im trying to throw myself into things and face them head-on first. this time we’re also challenging many musical genres that we haven’t tried before so it’s been really fun.
Q. i heard that the title track “Curious” is a song with a powerful beat.
🐰: im excited because it’s a style of music we’ve never shown before and that makes me look forward to performing it on stage even more. although the title track has a strong intense beat we will also continue promoting with a bright hip-hop song that’s the complete opposite so please look forward to it.
Q. what aspect did you focus on the most while preparing this album?
🐰: i paid the most attention to the quality of our singing and dancing. i exchanged a lot of opinions with the members and we completed everything after making detailed adjustments. for the performances i focused on overall balance as well, things like angles and controlling strength so it wouldn’t become excessive.
Q. what topic do the members talk about the most these days?
🐰: honestly it feels like we talk about nothing except this album. (laughs) since this is a period of starting over we wanted to show what we do best so we first spent a lot of time thinking about what exactly that was. we’re also continuing to make small adjustments to the choreography.
Q. did you do anything special to strengthen your teamwork as a group?
🐰: during one of our days off we went on a trip to sokcho and yangyang together. we grilled meat, ate king crab and stayed up all night talking until seven in the morning. then we went to the beach to carry out a game punishment. it was really cold that day. (laughs)
originally hao hyung was supposed to go into the water but we felt bad about making him go into the freezing sea alone so all the members jumped in together. i still remember everyone’s lips turning blue. (laughs)
i always tell the hyungs that we need to become one team, one family, so i think jumping together was both a good way to strengthen our teamwork and a great experience overall.
Q. why do you emphasize “one team” and “family”?
🐰: because there are still so many things we want to show as one team. i think synergy is very important when working as a group. we spend almost all of our time together every day so naturally we influence each other a lot. also i’ve been watching and growing alongside the hyungs since my first year of middle school.
Q. if you had to choose two strengths of the members what would they be?
🐰: seungeon hyung is always overflowing with positive energy. im the type who worries about things before they even happen and because i overthink so much i sometimes end up not talking very much. (laughs)
as for hao hyung, when i first met him my first impression was that he was really cold but now i think he’s actually the warmest person of all.
Q. you’ll only get busier from now on but is there anything you’d like to do with the members in your daily lives?
🐰: i want to go to everland together! (laughs) also the trip to sokcho and yangyang was the first trip the five of us took together so next time i hope we can travel abroad together.
Q. looking back what do those past years mean to you?
🐰: they were a period that allowed me to keep growing. the same is true even now. especially while preparing this album i practiced a lot. when i monitor my performances i can feel that i’ve improved and changed. i love accumulating those small feelings of achievement.
