This is a long post. I'll be discussing my experience as a #ROBLOX developer in the anime space over the past few years. In this post, I'll try to motivate newer developers to put in effort and shine a light on other developers who need to step up their game. Also, whether getting into Roblox development is worth it.
I've been developing games on and off Roblox for the past 11 years, and in recent years, I actually got involved in the development community, specifically the Roblox anime space, and I want to talk about my experience.
Now, in advance, I'm going to name some games and quote some devs. Some of them will be implied as being bad, doing predatory practices like cash grabs or other dirty stuff, and, arguably, the worst thing, which is having an ego about shitty produced games. Using numbers and revenue to inflate their heads.
This may piss a lot of people off who see it, and others may call me egotistical myself. Once again, though, I'm just telling the experience I've had since I've gotten actively involved. I'm going to first list the problems and things I've seen and then talk about some examples and things I personally think need to change. If you don't give a fuck about the post, then don't reply. If you want to share your opinion, then feel free to respond. The problems I see are as follows:
1. Scamming And Lies
2. Predatory Actions And Practices
3. Losing Sight Of What Games Are
4. Game Design And Gameplay Loops
5. 1 Sided Views And Community Blindness
6. YouTuber Controversy And Beef
7. Lack Of Enjoyment, Passion, Funding, Skill, And Resources
I'll also be discussing and talking about a few things I think some games and developers are doing well, also. I acknowledge that no one is perfect. Also, it's 2025, people talk wild, sexual, aggressive, racist, and other things in a joking manner, and it's normalised. Does that make it right? Well, I'm not the judge, and I also talk pretty wild myself. But some actions, not statements, that have been happening recently, are pretty much unacceptable.
1. Scamming And Lies
This part, I don't even have to make it very long. Most owners of games nowadays can't seem to stop themselves from being apes and keep scamming the community. I don't know, bro, they just see the money and can't see past it. The definition of "cashgrab" is broad. Though most people consider it a game that has high monetisation, a lack of updates, bad gameplay, or repetitive gameplay loops, ultimately, it is of low quality. See, but most games can't even be considered cashgrabs, because cashgrabs are supposed to be released. Most of these games nowadays don't even release, and developers monetise their Discord or Patreon for early access, take money, put none of it back into the game, and then leave. Like, are we stupid? Releasing a game will nearly always get u more money than taking money and leaving before the game releases. It's almost like 1+1=3 for these owners, and the community ultimately keeps falling for it. I'll get more into this later.
2. Predatory Actions And Practices
Now, just to put this out there at the start, I'm not going to be exposing and or trying to be a "vigilante", I'm going to just be discussing what I mean by "predatory" practices and actions. With a simple Google search, predatory actions in gaming can be described as: The exploitation of players for financial gain by companies, and the actions of online predators who use gaming platforms to target and groom vulnerable individuals, particularly children. Now, the latter part I'm not discussing too in depth, but I will mention that it is prevalent everywhere on the internet nowadays, so be safe. But this has been brought up by YouTubers and the Roblox Corporation itself on the platform. There are a lot of popular developers out there, such as the people at Type Soul, who are usually the first ones thought of in these conversations. Is it true, is it not true? At this point, it's too much for me to look into and sorry, I'm a busy person. The right people will handle that if it is true. At the end of the day, it's the obtaining of these allegations and the swirling of information that is damaging to games of the genre, developers who work on these games (and future projects they work on), and ultimately the community. The main part of this, though, is the exploitation of the community. Roblox is filled with gullible children and dumb adults, it's true. I even play slop games occasionally for game nights in my Discord, and technically feed into this. Yet I mostly play games off Roblox nowadays, as the platform is dry. Developers exploit this with false promises for releases to build hype, delays, rushed projects, unorganised timeframes, over-monetisation and a lack of creativity with their games. This is what leads to most games being shitty on the platform, and never satisfying the already addicted and dumb anime community on Roblox. Blatantly, a pretty dirty way to make games and money.
3. Losing Sight Of What Games Are
Games at their core should be built for a few things, depending on the genre. This is enjoyment, longevity, revenue, and community. It seems like most Roblox owners and directors nowadays take bits and pieces of this, instead of taking all 4 in their totality (which isn't hard to do btw and has been done on Roblox). Developers nowadays are losing sight of the fact that games are supposed to be fun and bring people together, yet at the same time, if you make a good game, money will follow. At the end of the day, all it is is that they don't know how to. It's that they don't want to make good games, they just want to make "something to play" or "something that'll get me money fast". This also pertains to the lack of consistency and longevity in games. Honestly even right now the indie and triple a game scene is cooked, gaming as a whole feels try with Where Winds Meet, Clair Obscur Expedition 33, even some gachas like WUWA feeling better to play and more consistent in game design, enjoyment, and overall execution only cause they either get consistent good updates, are fun with friends, or are legit generational projects (which I did vote COE33 as game of the year btw). Right now, Roblox has the potential to bring in a lot more people to the platform and has hit so many records this year. Developers should take advantage of this.
4. Game Design And Gameplay Loops
There's a difference between game developers and game designers. Try to remember that when getting into Roblox development, and or if you're already in it. There are a lot of talented developers and game designers. Though it's rare to find someone good at both. More developers should look into how games should be structured, updated and overall executed. This will overall improve the platform and your own personal skill, and a lot of other developers, and I respect good game designers. This somewhat goes into the gameplay loop, which I don't blame people on Roblox for not getting down to yet. There are ways to improve it, for god's sake, most triple-A games can't get a good gameplay loop. A lot of the good games are one shots with 1 new game, and then you 100% it. The game is satisfying and complete, yet on Roblox, specifically in the anime space, you have to update your game and make sure people are satisfied while waiting for that said update. If anyone needs insight on how to do this, feel free to hit me up in the replies or comments, and I'll help you out for sure. So yeah, game devs need to start to observe and takeaways from successful games off the platform and apply them to their game designs. There are a lot of games that start well, then ruin their games because of a lack of consistency, be it quality or lack of updates. An example of this is Deepwoken, yet Deepwoken is one of, if not the best, games to drop on Roblox in terms of RPGs. The game has made millions, yet they cannot drop an update in 2 years. It makes u wonder. Is it a lack of passion or neglect? It gets to a certain extent where updates should bring games up to date, not just add a new weapon or 2 or change balancing. Those are generally considered patches. People want content!
5. 1 Sided Views And Community Blindness
This section will also be short. You hear YouTubers all the time mention things along the lines of "why is the Roblox community still playing these crappy games?" And not gonna lie, I'm curious too, yet I'm not. I understand because a lot of the time, they are using excuses like I said earlier, like "nothing else to play" or for others, it's because Roblox is free. For others, they actually are genuinely addicted to slop, and they continue to play R6 Parry anime copies with the same functions and gameplay feel, just with a different anime, like Bleach, Tokyo Ghoul, Demon Slayer, Hells Paradise, One Piece, and tons of Naruto copies. Most of them never release, or release and then close again, and people still wait and ache for them to come back, give them money again, then the game gets taken down again due to controversy or just lack of updates. Community Blindness, or maybe it's we know yet we still play them cause of what I mentioned earlier, either for content, or cause they're free and our friends are on it and ngl anything can be fun with friends. This branches into 1 sided views where a lot of the time devs never look at games from a player perspective, so the game doesn't satisfy the community. This is the other side of Community Blindness. Community Blindness is the act of both developers not looking at games from the community's eyes, and the community not realising they aren't even seen and continue to support games that do not recognise them.
6. YouTuber Controversy And Beef
Now, obviously, YouTubers need content, so they're gonna get it as they please. Yet this goes back to games just being bad, that a lot of the content on games will be "another day, another dollar". They review the game and see if it's fun, and their communities will follow. Yet it does become problematic when that's all their content or if they're constantly trynna expose the developers rather than using their influence to improve games. Now this isn't their duty, but some YouTubers act like it should be LOL. But that's pretty much this section, YouTubers vs devs, Sukuna vs Gojo. Same thing. Youtubers usually right, pretty much gojo, they should win. And Devs like Sukuna, I don't know how we keep winning XD.
7. Lack Of Enjoyment, Passion, Funding, Skill, And Resources
This section is also self-explanatory. Gaming is boring on Roblox; we don't enjoy games, and Roblox devs don't enjoy developing 9/10. As for devs, 9/10 it isn't due to not liking developing, it's due to not having the money or resources to make a good game. They don't have the skills or time to solo dev, and ultimately, no funding or support from the community cause they're too busy buying and playing parry slop or brainrot slop. This makes them lose passion, and the games usually are cashgrabs or speedruns to get funding, and they take the bread and just leave it's sorta sad. Developers if you reached this point dont give up on deving, keep learning and getting connections theres people out there to help you, i plan to drop my own game if it performs well ill help fund a few of yall games and even if you wanna learn ive guided and taught, provided a lot of connections, and regularly am active helping developers to the best of my ability. I'm trying my best on my project also, and I also started as a solo dev, so if it performs well and is a fun game to play, then hopefully you guys can use that as motivation.
These are my closing statements: I appreciate games such as Rell Seas And Holy War, and many others in development trying to change the platform even though its taking some time you can see the effort and money put into it. Delays will happen in gaming but these games are blatantly on a higher tier than the other R6 Parry slop. Roblox has a lot of potential, but it has a lot of problems as of right now. It's easy to get into development, yet hard to shine. So is it worth getting into? Absolutely, if you want to change the platform, if you have a passion for game development, and want to make decent money. Remember, when you create a game, think about why you're making it. The highest revenue and most iconic games are fun for those who play them. So remember, if you're making a money game, a good, fun, consistent game will always make more than a cashgrab. To all of you, have a great day if you read this, and if you're interested in my project, it's an Original Hybrid Action, dual-narrative, Dark Fantasy RPG. Inspired By The Fate Series With My Own Original Story Elements! I want to make it fun for you, so yeah, make sure to join and support if you want to. I'm trying my hardest on it.
My Project!

Thank you.
P.S. Sorry if it was hard to read, legit didn't sleep tonight, but hope you understood and can apply the tips I mentioned if you're a developer!
