As #CCS2024 wraps up, it's time to zoom out and take in the big picture. Who attended the conference, and how are they all connected?
Using data from 250 talks in the main conference, I built a coauthorship network where each node represents a speaker (in black text) or their collaborators (in grey text). Two nodes are linked if they coauthored a talk. The network features 623 contributors—83% of whom contributed to only one talk. If you coauthored more than two talks, congrats, you’re in the top 6%! And guess what? The star contributor coauthored 12 papers. Any guesses who that is? 😉
Figure 1 shows the entire “universe” of the coauthorship network, and Figure 2-4 highlight the top 3 largest clusters.
Which constellation do you belong to? 25% of contributors are part of the largest connected component (purple), while the second (green) and third (blue) clusters include 7% and 4%, respectively.
Not in a big cluster? No worries! That’s why we’re here at #CCS2024 — to forge new collaborations and connect our constellations. 🌟

World on fire. A smoke cloud nearly a quarter the size of North America is currently covering Brazil and its neighbors. Nothing to see here.
Not a single word from governments or the media about mega fires or toxic smoke clouds size of a continent. I don't know what to say anymore.

Interested in artificial life? Here at #CCS2024@evertonferc is talking about how to use complex networks of abstract substrates to get a general theory based on chemical-like relationships. #CCS2024
And so it begins! The Conference on Complex Systems #CCS2024 has officially kicked off in London with the opening warm-up session organised by the @YR_CSS at @NortheasternLDN, sponsored by @NUnetsi.
We'll be here until tmr, then heading down to Exeter for the main conf next week!
1 - países ricos devem financiar a transição em países em desenvolvimento já que NENHUM país deveria abrir novos poços de petróleo hoje
2 - justiça climática: quais países serão mais afetados pelas consequências das mudanças climáticas?

7 (seven!!!) PhD positions in Network Science in London! Uniquely, open to international students too, funding is higher than other London unis (£20,622 + London allowance!) and for 3.5 years instead of the usual 3! Most importantly, with outstanding supervisors!
Excited to announce we’ve received UK government funding to run the worlds first pilot clinical and neuroimaging study of Psilocybin therapy in Gambling addiction!
Keep an eye out on our tweets/comms pages for study info..

Welcome to Copenhagen #ic2s2 ! I have compiled a Google map list of food, drinking, and going out of options. It's a spontaneous mix of low-key, high-end, and comfort options but it is less touristy than the usual lists. Notes for each place. Enjoy! https://t.co/LxwgqOK9Vq
