To be honest your biggest issue is taking the criticism for the city governance as a criticism to all belgium. I'm loving Brussels, the concerts went fantastic, the city is beautiful, the architecture gorgeous, food delicious, Belgians I met so far were nothing but absolute sweethearts and some of the warmest most helpful people I've ever met around Europe. Still, I do feel a little unsafe here, seen things that looked very weird and made me half-ready to run, I stepped into I think a piss puddle near the Bourse - my shoe smelled so bad and I had to go back to the hotel to change and the shoes went to trash. These are not just "capital" things. I know because I travel around Europe for business and leisure a lot. Criticizing city management ≠ criticizing citizens, offending the entire nation, or so. It's not receiving the most negative feedback without a reason. Rather than chugging it all to hate, I really genuinely believe you would benefit more into chugging it to improving government management of Brussels and make people enjoy this beautiful city without these concerns
