SinB said that everyone who did the 'Season of Memories' challenge is so nervous. It's because the choreo is so fast and complicated than you think. Seungkwan took the challenge about 8 times

[NEWS] 250116 - GFRIEND Q&A for the press
Q. Thoughts on your 10th Anniversary
GFRIEND: Back when we were rookies, we would wonder ‘Will we ever reach our 10th anniversary like our seniors?’ It felt like a distant dream. Now that GFRIEND has reached this milestone, it feels surreal. Even now, we still feel excited whenever we step on stage. We’re truly happy to be a group that has been loved for such a long time. We’re also grateful to celebrate this meaningful 10th anniversary of our debut with a special album and various projects.
Q. Why did you reunite for your 10th anniversary?
GFRIEND: Every time we met the members, we naturally talked about our 10th anniversary and were confidence that we would get together again someday. We especially wanted to celebrate our 10th anniversary. It was possible because the six of us had strong wills and trusted each other. We’re proud of the members to see the concert and projects we once envisioned become a reality.
Q. Thoughts on recording as a full group after a long time
Yuju: On the day we recorded the title song, the producer we were working with said ‘I’m truly happy’ while recording my voice. And I remember the compliment that ‘Your voice is the same but your emotions have matured’. I was thankful for how they let the members express ourselves freely, rather than directing us too much.
SinB: It was fun and comfortable because we recorded with producers we’ve worked together with for a long time. When I listened to the finished song, I felt ‘Our members are still the same.’ (Laughs)
Umji: Before parts were officially assigned, SinB suggested lines she thought suited the members. I remember being amazed because the final distribution turned out almost exactly as she predicted. Working with writers who know GFRIEND so well made it possible.
Q. Behind the scenes of the new songs’ signature ‘knife-like choreo’
Sowon: With all the time we’ve spent together, our synchronisation was as perfect without a doubt! The six of us supported and helped each other during practice.
Yerin: Even when we went to Japan to attend an award ceremony at the end of the year and on January 1, the six members gathered together and practiced. When we made mistakes while practicing, we coolly acknowledged each other’s mistakes and focused on syncing up.
Eunha: It had been a long time since the six of us learned new choreography together so it was really fun. The members even complimented me on how I memorised the choreography quickly. (laughs)
Q. Most memorable moments as GFRIEND
Sowon: I remember the day we won first place with ‘Rough’. It was something I always dreamed of but I never thought it would actually happen so it was even more touching. I still can’t forget the image of Buddy crying with us.
Yerin: I’m the same as Sowon. I was an MC for the music show that day and they didn’t tell us who would win first place in advance. I remember I couldn’t stop crying when GFRIEND was announced as the winner.
Eunha: I can’t forget the emotion of our first concert. The concert hall filled with Buddys’ light sticks and the voices of our fans are still vivid in my mind.
Yuju: There are countless, but I want to remember the present more than the past. I would choose the week I spent with Buddy on a music show with “Season of Memories”!
SinB: Every moment is memorable, but if I had to pick one, it would be the day I first attended an awards ceremony. It was my first time performing in front of so many people so I remember being really nervous. (laughs)
Umji: Beyond the schedules and stages, I often think about the small, everyday moments, like watching movies together at the dorm or chatting in our pyjamas
Q. Growth compared to your debut days
Sowon: I still struggle to watch our debut stage. (laughs) Compared to back then, I think my skills and expressions have become more confident and natural on stage.
Yerin: I feel that all the members’ voices have deepened and matured. Each of us has developed our own distinct colour, but during practice of the new song, I was impressed by how we worked hard to blend harmoniously as a team rather than showing off our individuality. That’s why the six of our voices still feel so well matched, even now.
Eunha: Overall, our skills have improved. Sometimes when I listen to our early songs, I notice areas where we could have done better. One thing that hasn’t changed is how nervous I get before important stages, this hasn’t changed even even after 10th anniversary! (laughs)
Yuju: Through various experiences, I’ve learned new emotions which expanded the range of my expression. I’ve also become more self driven, practicing and preparing voluntarily. What hasn’t changed is that I value the basics.
SinB: My attitude toward work has matured. I’ve become more proactive and reflective. But one thing remains the same, I still watch practice videos and analyse them to maintain my standards.
Umji: I think we’ve learned how to be more considerate of each other. Still, when funny stories come up, we can’t help but revert to our lively high school girl energy. (laughs)
Q. GFRIEND song you love the most and reason
Sowon: ‘Rough’, it’s a song that has a lot of meaning and memories and reminds me of those days.
Yerin: ‘Glass Bead’, I think the team’s identity was formed thanks to this song.
Eunha: ‘Time for the Moon Night’, I remember working hard when recording the intro. I was touched by the song because it was so well-received that it even went up on the music charts.
Yuju: ‘Glass Bead’, if I were to define GFRIEND in a dictionary, it would be the lyrics in the chorus of this song.
SinB: ‘Rough’, I like every single song but I love this a little more because it was our first No. 1 song.
Umji: ‘White’, ‘Neverland’, ‘Someday’, the songs from our debut album are really touching.
How you want GFRIEND to be remembered
Sowon: As a group that always works hard and does well.
Yerin: I want to be remembered as a group that was together back then and is still together now, and growing together.
Eunha: A group that always delivers good music.
Yuju: I want to be remembered as a youth that shines without fading. And I want to be remembered as a group that is like a friend who makes you feel comfortable whenever you turn your head.
SinB: I want to be remembered as a group that brings back memories of those days when we were full of good energy.
Umji: I want to be a group whose songs and performances resonate deeply.
Q. A word for Buddy
Sowon: You are beings that cannot be expressed in words in this world. I want to show. I want to show my fans how sincere I am by taking out my heart. I respect and feel cool for the fans who consistently give me love. I am where I am today because of Buddy. I am grateful and love you for helping me become a leader who works harder.
Yerin: Thank you for loving me so much and for always being a strong presence by my side. I’m sorry for not expressing it well. I’m always thankful and hope you have a happy day everyday.
Eunha: GFRIEND and Buddy are like ‘partners’. I think we can’t live without each other. We were able to return as GFRIEND because Buddy was always there for us. Thank you and I love you!
Yuju: I think GFRIEND and Buddy are one and the same. We’re inseparable. I want you to always know how precious your existence is. Thank you as always!
SinB: Buddy, you’re always a source of happiness and gratitude when I see you. I’m always thankful and I love you!
Umji: Buddy, you are GFRIEND’s precious friend. You are the people I’m thankful for with whom I’ve shared good memories with. I hope this 10th anniversary project will be a good gift to you all.
