Just a friendly warning. We don’t even make $200k per year in Congress despite working nearly 140 days. If we aren’t properly compensated, a lot of us will go to the private sector and you will be left with some real idiots in Congress.
My uncle died and my dad and I are in Massachusetts going through his things and there are boxes and boxes of my grandparent's slides from the 50's, 60's, & 70's with labels like Colombia, Nova Scotia, Greece, Norway. Dad says never took the kids on vacation with them.
He looked at the box a said "it's a lost history that I don't have the time or energy to go through" and that I should toss it. But I'm looking at them, thinking about what could be in those photos, and I don't want to toss them.
Where do you think that money comes from? Our taxes. And blue states give more to the government than they get back. It would be a shame if they just stopped sending taxes to the federal government...
Now tell the American People how it was Republicans systematically hobbling the ACA at every opportunity since it was passed into law in 2010 that led to the premium increases and every other thing the GOP points to when they say the ACA is a disaster. Tell them that, Karoline.
Because you didn't lead a prayer on the House floor when Melissa Hartman and John Hoffman were tragically shot. Instead, Republicans either mocked them or just flat out ignored it.
This was one of the most disgusting and evil things that I’ve ever seen. Just before we learned Charlie had passed, we tried to lead a prayer on the House floor - praying for his recovery after he was tragically shot. The Democrats started booing and yelling at us. It was absolutely disgusting. Their rhetoric caused this, and their actions today show they have no remorse!!!
Any tenant who can find a rent-regulated unit can rent it as long as they meet standard income requirements. And you will never become mayor running on a platform which opposes that.
Somewhere last night in New York City, a single mother and her children slept at a homeless shelter because you, assemblyman @ZohranKMamdani are occupying her rent controlled apartment.
You grew up rich and married an even wealthier woman. You’ve had weddings on 3 continents. You own property in LGTBQIA+ murderous Uganda. You make $142,000 a year plus stipends, and your wife works too, meaning you together likely make well over $200,000. No matter which way you cut it: Zohran Mamdani is a rich person. You are actually very rich.
Yet you and your wife pay $2,300 a month, as you have bragged, for a nice apartment in Astoria. That should be housing for someone who needs it.
We are in the middle of a historic affordability crisis. Millions of low income New Yorkers need this apartment and an apartment like it. Yet your apartment remains rented to rich people who don’t need it.
Today, I am calling on you to move out immediately and give your affordable housing back to an unhoused family who need it. Leaders must show moral clarity. Time to move out.
