We are a movement of parents, students, survivors, educators, gun owners & concerned citizens fighting to end gun violence and build safer communities.
On Friday, 6/5, wear orange to mark National Gun Violence Awareness Day and call attention to this preventable crisis. Take a picture, post it on social media, and use the hashtag #WearOrange!
Then, RSVP for a Wear Orange Weekend event in your community: https://t.co/GVvyZyoRXu
Today in D.C., Everytown for Gun Safety stopped by to discuss a path to preventing the gun violence tragedies occuring in our country. Thanks for the visit @Everytown!
This is the right thing to do — we can’t wait until January to do something. Guns designed to kill large numbers of people very quickly don't belong on our streets.
This is not about winning an argument or placing blame. It's about loving our children and taking action.
🚨 CALIFORNIA ACTION ALERT: Moms have been camped outside the office of Senator Mike McGuire for HOURS, urging him to allow a vote on #AB1127—a bill to stop DIY machine guns.
If you live in CA, join their call by tagging @ilike_mike in a post telling him to get out of the way!
I stand with every student who walked out of school today. But they shouldn’t have had to. We shouldn’t be asking teens to do more for gun reform than Congress. Kids deserve classrooms, not caution drills. They deserve to learn—not protest for their lives. https://t.co/JUGZxkWm0V
Here’s the reality in Baltimore:
Lowest homicide total for August on record ✔️
Fewest number of homicides through August on record ✔️
Our entire team focused on proven strategies that have produced historic reductions ✔️
Enough is enough. Our children deserve to live freely and safely in their schools and places of worship without the threat of gun violence. Our hearts are with the entire Minneapolis community as they grapple with this horrific act of mass gun violence.
BREAKING: Multiple people have been shot after a gunman opened fire this morning at Annunciation Catholic School in Minneapolis, Minnesota, while classes for K-8 students were ongoing during the first week of school. https://t.co/x9vLadlpNn
BREAKING: Four people were killed after a gunman opened fire at a bar in Anaconda, Montana. The shooter remains at large, forcing the entire town to shelter in place.
Yet another American community devastated by another horrific act of mass gun violence. https://t.co/72Emz0t93M

I came to the Senate floor today as New Yorker, a kid from Brooklyn.
Our city was shattered when a gunman in cold blood took the lives of four innocent New Yorkers including an NYPD officer.
It is a rupture in the soul of our beloved city, and we mourn and honor those lost.
4 lives stolen. An NYPD officer leaves behind a pregnant wife and 2 young sons.
Because a gunman from a state with weak gun laws brought an AR-15 to New York.
We once had a national assault weapons ban. It worked.
Republicans in Congress must find the courage to pass it again.
Cities succeed when people feel safe right outside their doors. In the past year, we’ve:
✅ Cut violent crime, gun violence, & carjackings
✅ Boosted MPD recruitment — up 135% in applications
✅ Improved 911 response times
✅ Cleared over 73% of the police conduct review backlog
In Baltimore, we know that gun violence is a public health issue. Now, because of our Comprehensive Violence Prevention Plan, we’re seeing the lowest number of homicides in decades.
Thank you @MSNBC for having me and @randallwoodfin on to discuss our historic progress.
Our young people shouldn’t know the trauma of gun violence. Yet, too often it shapes their reality. Standing up for the safer future they deserve, their voices are a call to action. We must meet their courage with the urgent change this moment demands.

What patriotism means to me three years after the Highland Park mass shooting (and in light of the recent political violence in Minnesota):

Congressional Republicans are giving a handout to the gun lobby by eliminating the $200 tax on silencers and easily concealable short-barreled rifles and short-barreled shotguns. We’ve regulated silencers and these guns for 90+ years for a reason: to keep people safe.
This holiday weekend should’ve been filled with joy, laughter, and time with loved ones. Instead, gun violence devastated communities across the country.
We cannot accept this as our normal. Join us: Text READY to 644-33, or if you’re a student, text STUDENTS to 644-33.
@Rep_Jason We’re so incredibly proud to celebrate that this bill is finally on its way to the Governor’s desk. We’re thankful for @SenLouDiPalma, who sponsored this bill, championed it in the Senate, and worked tirelessly to protect Rhode Islanders from preventable gun violence.
