I've finally made it to the closest I can possibly get to completing all of the stats page lists. 🥳
10 movies left, but they're either movies that have only played in festivals or haven't been translated into English. This is probably impossible to finish, but I got close.

I think this is largely due to TV. Tracking shots look more cheap than impressive. Not to mention how often it is the shot is unnecessary and clunky. You can literally see people waiting for the camera to get in the right position for them to do their next move.
can't think of another film technique that went from being pretty much beloved by film fans only to become so overused and poorly made that I usually resent their inclusion quite the same way as the modern application of "oners"
Uhhhh hey @letterboxd I think this kind of censorship is bad and should not be happening on your site. I do not like that they can just pay you to cover up the reviews and keep it under "embargo" that's BS. Come on. No matter how much they pay you to do this - I do NOT like it.
I'm sorry but the longevity of the myth that Kubrick was trying to spill the beans on some upper echelon sex cult in Eyes Wide Shut is insane. essentially equivalent to trying to prove ghosts exist and pointing to the Shining as an example.
Someone on Reddit posted about Obama's favorite film being The Godfather, but then half the top comments were people saying no way that's true. Do people really not realize there's a reason and that it's been hailed as the greatest movie of all time for multiple decades?
There's an embarrassing feud starting between "Her" & "Lost in Translation" where people are starting to constantly compare the two as if you can only like one. It's stupid. I remember when Her came out, it was fun to compare the two but now the connection is overrated.
And then you try to have a conversation with someone who thinks like and they haven't heard of Tarkovsky.
Obviously you don't need to see 5k movies to be a movie lover, but it's tiring when people are more concerned with social media posting than actually watching movies.
They don’t want you to know this but being a cinephile is nothing to do with how many films you watch. The single qualifying factor to being a cinephile is passion for film.
I probably get between 3-5 letterboxd comment notifications a day of someone asking "where did you watch this." It's depressing how people have no ability to find the movies they love beyond streaming services.
I think it's so stupid when people bring up trailers in their reviews for movies. A trailer is not made by the director, it's a piece of media that's trying to make money off of you. Trailers should not be in the same conversations discussing art.
