🤢 Interesting details about bringing The Puker to life in Zach Cregger’s RESIDENT EVIL.

The performer behind The Puker shared some details about the creature and what it was like filming his scenes.

• According to the performer, around 85% of The Puker was practical.

• The puke was practical too. The main suit had PVC pipes running along his back, leg and chest. Two larger pipes fired the fake puke using CO₂ tanks.

• The pressure was strong enough to actually push his head backwards when it fired.

• Finding the right performer wasn’t easy. The production needed someone with a very specific body type.

• Legacy Effects built The Puker suit specifically around his body. It took almost four months to make, with fittings and tests almost every week.

• There were two versions of the suit. One for stunt work and the main suit used for his performance.

• Zach Cregger worked directly with him on how The Puker should move and behave, while the stunt team handled the action and choreography.

• For the elevator shaft scene, he flew to Prague and had only about two rehearsals. The set wasn’t even completely finished while they were practicing.

• Zach Cregger wanted him to fall about an inch away from the camera lens. Parts of the elevator shaft walls were removed and mats were added in case he went too far.

• The shot of The Puker vomiting down toward Bryan was done for real. In another shot, he asked Zach if he should aim to the left or right of the camera. Zach basically told him to puke straight onto the camera.

• He also said Zach Cregger’s storyboards were incredibly close to what they actually shot. Even his face and position while falling down the elevator shaft matched the original storyboard.

• He also came up with his own backstory for The Puker. He imagined him as an innocent patient, a sick accountant who went to the hospital for a colonoscopy and ended up getting infected.
