5 things most people don't understand about leg locks:
I've been doing leg locks for a long time in Jiu-Jitsu.
It's pretty much the only skill where I can confidently say I'm one of the best in the world.
But when I first started learning leg locks about 6 years ago, there was a lot that I didn't understand.
Here are 5 things most people need to know:
-----------
1. Leg locks aren't dangerous.
Doing leg locks extremely fast is dangerous.
Not tapping to leg locks when you should is dangerous.
Relying entirely on brute force in your submissions is dangerous.
But pretty much all leg lock injuries could be avoided with intelligent training and a decreased sense of pride.
-----------
2. Leg lock defense doesn't involve running away.
At least, not in the early stages.
Instead, most of the time, when defending leg entanglements, you actually want to put weight into your apartment.
You use this thing called "leverage" to clear dangerous hooks and controls, and then you work to free your leg.
-----------
3. The end of the leg lock game is the beginning of the rest of the game.
At times, I've gotten tunnel vision when attacking legs in competition.
This is because, well, it's a pretty easy finish for me if I get to about 2-3 spots.
But what I long missed (and what a lot of new leg lockers miss) is that there are some of the best passing, back-taking, and sweeping opportunities right off failed leg locks.
-----------
4. There are 3 key aspects of 99% of leg locks.
- Control of the hip that leads to an off-balance to the opponent's hands or hips
- Connecting to the back of your opponent's knee with your hips (to bend their leg)
- Immobilization of the joint you're attacking (ankle for heel hooks and ankle locks, the knee for knee bars, and the Z for Z locks)
Remembering these 3 things will take you far.

5. Woj Lock the World Rashguards are NOW available.
In collaboration with VHTS, I've finally been able to release the Woj Lock the World rashguard to the public.

But you want to know something crazy?
You could buy a Woj Lock the World rashguard AND a copy of my new instructional, Woj Lock 2.0, and you'd still save 40 bucks when compared with "other" popular ankle lock instructionals from famous Jiu-Jitsu coaches.
Now that's a deal worth tapping out to.

@Bow_B4_BJJ This isn’t wrestling. Going all out is not the way to be a good partner. Slow down and go as hard as the other person presses. We all got work tomorrow. Made me a better training partner that people aren’t afraid to roll with
