Dave McMenamin reporting Luka has been telling sources "summer of 2026 will show you" ever since the day he got traded to the Lakers (per NBA Today):
"Since he was traded from the Mavericks to the Lakers, I had a source tell me close to Doncic that they've been wanting to be a part of a champions team yesterday. Ever since the trade, they always told us 'summer of 2026 will show you, in the summer of 26.' So, here we are so excited that the summer of 26 is here.
In a way, that's putting the pressure solely on the Lakers front office to 'we're going to do our part. We were the leading scorer in the NBA this year. We were the MVP of the league. We're going to be fully healthy coming in next year. Now, give me a roster that I can win a championship with.'"
Steve Ballmer says he probably overpaid by 10% to buy the LA Clippers for $2 Billion: "But I got the team"
“Literally within two weeks of my last day at Microsoft, I fly to New York to meet with Adam Silver and with Roger Goodell”
“I say, ‘Hey, I want to buy a team and bring it to Seattle.’ Adam says, ‘Well, we don't want teams to move anymore. We saw what happened with Seattle moving. We really want these teams to stay’”
“I'm biding my time. Then the Sterling thing comes out and my middle son says, ‘Dad, you gotta get on it, this thing is gonna sell.’ Finally I figure out a way to meet Shelly Sterling. Donald's out of the picture and she's running the show”
“I knew I gotta do it. Teams don't come up, it's an LA team. I had mentioned to Adam, ‘What about the LA teams?’ He said, ‘Those teams will never sell.’ Then, of course the whole thing happens here”
“So I was all in. But then we got into the bid process and I just said, I'm gonna get this team. People thought I way overpaid. But I got the team. I probably paid 10% more than I needed to”
I think we all might be underrating how huge of a signing Freddie Freeman has been for the Dodgers. Completely extended the window to be a dominant franchise.
Because they are all scared he’ll replace Kobe’s legacy cuz of his own greatness when it’s not true. He’ll stand along side just like all the Laker greats stand among each other, great in their own way and contributing to this proud franchise.
