@crowbend Thank you for your service, kind soldier. You'll recite that phrase like a sleeper agent next time you're in that part of the Hyatt, guaranteed.
It'll be 10 years from now and you'll see a picture of that exact spot, only to recite it perfectly.
@KodakCoyote I once had the scanner at the airport flag me, and the alarm was right on my crotch. Easily the most awkward pat-down I ever got in front of coworkers on a business trip.
@sgodofsk All of the best managers I've ever worked with always had the attitude of "I don't pay you for hours. I pay you for a job well done"
Half the reason I left one job is because even taking a sick day was considered career suicide.
Company: "we want to try expanding into another country"
*sends over shitty versions of the original product that aren't nearly as good as the ones in their country*
"I guess we just aren't popular over there"
Well done, rhythm game industry.
@Zadraboii I've met a couple popufurs, and it's always a coin flip if they're nice or a complete jackass. I had one of them angrily rant about VRC avatars when I was just trying to have a fun chat. I usually don't even know they're popular because I don't follow social media 🤷
@AV8ight I was at the Westin in ATL on a work trip recently and didn't see a single furry. I'm kinda jealous now.
Also, if anyone asks about going to the swanky restaurant on the roof of the Westin, I'd recommend passing on it. The food is mediocre at best, especially for the price.
My halloween costume this year will be me with dark rings under my eyes, and an IV bag filled with Red Bull. It'll be fun dressing as a security analyst for halloween.
@kmcnam1 Someone once bragged they used to be a "high-level" security person in a 3-letter agency. I looked him up and learned that he got fired because he leaked top-secret info and did a couple years in prison.
If you brag as an oldhead, it says more about you than anything.
@natemcgrady@j2k3k At one of my previous jobs where I did tech interviews, we'd ask them to list a few common network ports of their choice, just to weed out people with no real tech knowledge. Lots of kids would come in with a bullshit cert from a bootcamp and think they're hackerman.
@MiniWheatDuo Variable judgment timing windows are a good thing because they allow you to lower the skill floor for new players, and I wish more developers followed osu! In this example.
Easily my hottest rhythm game opinion.
@techspence@SwiftOnSecurity One of my biggest complaints about working in this industry is that I can't show off my work to pretty much anyone. I love when people get an opportunity to show off their work.
@shenetworks Infrastructure knowledge and communication skills are in very short supply. I'm doing consulting right now, and half my colleagues don't know anything about infra or networking. The other half wouldn't have the ability to talk to their own mother without melting from anxiety.
